Trandafir Posts 22.2 On Final Day of Romanian Championships

Norbert Trandafir topped the 50 free field tonight in Romania with a quick 22.29. That time put him almost three tenths ahead of Marius Radu, who touched 2nd at 22.58. Ionela Cozma won the women’s sprint in 26.48.

Maria Gadea broke through for a win in the 200 IM, touching first in 2:19.72. She finished ahead of Ana Dascal (2:22.42). Both girls were born in 2001 or later. Gadea, meanwhile, returned to win again just minutes later in the women’s 400 free. She posted a 4:24.15 for the fastest time in that event.

Daniel Martin took the men’s 200 IM in 2:06.03, touching out Bogdan Fodor (2:06.96). In the men’s 400 free, it was Alin Artimon to the wall first in 3:53.03, winning by over three full seconds.

Pitesti won the women’s 400 medley relay in 4:23.16, winning by over ten seconds.

For the men, it was Universitatea Cluj, with Robert Glinta leading off in 55.40. He was followed by a 1:02.42 from Andrei Roman, and then a 53.07 from Alexandru Coci. Finally, Alin Coste anchored with a 49.83, just getting under the 50 second barrier. Universitatea Cluj won with a time of 3:40.72, the fastest time by over thirteen seconds.
