The 2015 Hancock Prospecting Australian Swimming Championships is coming to Sydney this April with a host of Commonwealth Games and Pan Pacific Championship gold medallists, ready to race.
Don’t miss your chance to see Australia’s best swimmers LIVE in action at the Sydney Olympic Park Aquatic Centre (SOPAC) as they swim for selection onto the FINA World Championship team in Kazan, Russia.
Tickets are on sale as of today, Thursday 5 March, at www.proticket.com.au with heats from $3.00 for Children and $6.00 for Adults while finals tickets start from $8.00 for Children and $12.50 for Adults.
The 2015 Australian Swimming Championships is the biggest domestic swim meet on the calendar with individual national titles on offer in 56 events and over 700 swimmers set to compete.
Commonwealth Games and Pan Pacific Championship gold medallists Cate and Bronte Campbell, Emily Seebohm, James Magnussen, Thomas Fraser-Holmes and Mitch Larkin will line up behind the blocks in Sydney, along with fellow Commonwealth Games and Para Pan Pacs gold medallists Rowan Crothers, Daniel Fox and Maddison Elliott; on the hunt to add to their national title collection.
Swimming Australia CEO Mark Anderson said the 2015 Hancock Prospecting Australian Swimming Championships is a great opportunity to see our swimmers on home soil, before they take to the international stage for the World Championships in August this year.
“This is always an exciting swim meet, and as momentum continues to build off the back of a successful 2014 campaign, we begin the exciting journey towards the FINA World Championships in Kazan and start to build further into our Rio campaign.
The competition will be extremely strong as our swimmers pursue a World Championship position and I would encourage everyone to get along to Sydney Olympic Park Aquatic Centre to watch our swimmers and the team take the next step on their journey. This is the time to get behind the Australian Swim Team and enjoy what is set to be a fantastic week of competition,” Anderson said.
The New South Wales Minister for Sport and Recreation Stuart Ayres said he was looking forward to the event.
“I am pleased to announce the NSW Government is supporting this prestigious event in Western Sydney, through our tourism and major events agency Destination NSW. It promises to attract thousands of competitors and spectators to Sydney Olympic Park, providing a boost to the local visitor economy.
Swimming is one of Australia’s most popular participation sports, and the National Championships will showcase the very best swimmers from around the country. The event will serve as a selection trial for the 2015 World Swimming Championships in Russia, so I expect the competition to be fierce. This event is another example of the NSW Government’s commitment to building a world class calendar of events as we work towards achieving our goal of doubling overnight expenditure to the State by 2020,” Mr Ayers said.
Get behind the swimmers as the best of the best from across Australia fight for first place and the chance to be crowned the 2015 Australian Champion.
