Brentwood, Tennessee’s Emma Blackwood has made a verbal commitment to Saint Louis University for 2015-16.
Representing the Brentwood High School Bruins at the 2014 Tennessee High School Swimming and Diving Championships, Blackwood finaled in the 200 IM (with a best time) and 100 breast and was a member of Brentwood’s fifth-place 200 medley relay and eighth-place 200 free relay. She split a 29.6 breast in the medley and a 24.3 anchor in the free relay.
Blackwood’s best times over the last two seasons are:
200y breast – 2:24.35
100y breast – 1:06.85
200y IM – 2:09.78
400y IM – 4:39.49
50y free – 24.87
100y free – 54.84
Blackwood is just outside scoring range for the Atlantic-10, which only runs an “A” and “B” final at conference championships. But the Billikens need the help in breaststroke, where they only scored once in the 200 and not at all in the 100 at 2014 A-10s. Moreover, all the 2014 breaststroke entrants will have graduated by the time Blackwood steps on campus.
Saint Louis has a big freshman class this year –ten new members– so it should be exciting to watch the progress of the Billikens over the next several years.
