Men’s Swimmer of the Week: Kayky Mota, Tennessee
Tennessee’s Kayky Mota, a junior from Sao Paulo, Brazil, swept the butterfly events to help the Vols defeat No. 9 Florida for the first time since 2008 and earn their best finish since 2001-02 at 7-1. Mota set a meet record in the 100 fly with an NCAA B-cut time of 47.07. He touched the wall first in the 200 fly with a time of 1:47.87.
Men’s Diver of the Week: Matthew Wade, Tennessee
Tennessee’s Matthew Wade, a sophomore from Mallorca, Spain, won both springboard events in the win over No. 9 Florida. Wade posted a final score of 333.53 on the 1-meter and 403.20 on the 3-meter, marking the first time he has tallied 400+ in the event during the regular season.
Men’s Freshman of the Week: Joseph Gutierrez, Missouri
Missouri’s Joseph Gutierrez, a freshman from Las Vegas, Nev., won one individual event to help Mizzou close the dual season with a win over Southern Illinois. Gutierrez placed first in the 1000 free with a time of 9:14.26, a season-best time that ranks him sixth all-time at Mizzou in the event. He also took second in the 500 free with a time of 4:31.01.
Women’s Swimmer of the Week: Amanda Nunan, Tennessee
Tennessee’s Amanda Nunan, a junior from Egg Harbor Township, N.J., won two individual events in the Lady Vols’ win over No. 8 Florida. Nunan recorded the second fastest time in the nation in the 1000 free, setting the school and meet record with a time of 9:37.08. She also placed first in the 500 free (4:44.67) as the Lady Vols clinched their first undefeated season since 1972-73.
Women’s Diver of the Week: Aimee Wilson, LSU
LSU’s Aimee Wilson, a sophomore from Calgary, Canada, won all three diving events in the tri-meet against Houston and Rice. Wilson registered a career-high score of 387.38 on the 3-meter, the second highest score in program history. She earned the gold in the 1-meter with a final score of 328.58. Wilson also won the platform for the first time this season and the second time in her career with a final score of 258.75.
Women’s Freshman of the Week: Katarina Milutinovich, LSU
LSU’s Katarina Milutinovich, a freshman from Moscow, Russia, won two individual events in the tri-meet against Houston and Riche. Milutinovich won the 100 free with a time of 50.13 and the 200 free with a time of 1:49.05. She also swam the first leg of the winning 400 free relay (3:24.33/50.18).
