Temecula’s Madison Frederick to Take Free/Back Prowess to Boise State

Madison Frederick of Temecula Swim Club and Chaparral High School in Temecula, California has verbally committed to swim for Boise State University beginning with the 2017-18 season.

“I chose Boise not only because of the great coaching staff and amazing swim team, but also due to the strong academic system and school spirit. I felt like it was the perfect fit for me, and I cannot wait to continue my training and education there for the next four years!”

Frederick placed sixth in the 100 free and fourth in the 100 back at the 2016 CIF-SS Division II Championships last May. She also anchored both free relays for Chaparral. Frederick went on to the California State Championships, where she finished eighth in the 100 free and tenth in the 100 back, the latter with a personal-best in prelims.

Frederick is a junior nationals-level qualifier in both the 100 and 200 backstrokes, and her best SCY times are:

  • 50 free – 24.10
  • 100 free – 50.88
  • 200 free – 1:51.88
  • 50 back – 26.80
  • 100 back – 55.82
  • 200 back – 2:00.32

Frederick is “highly interested in studying Kinesiology and Human Anatomy” at Boise State. She will join Lucia Davis in the Boise State class of 2021.
