Several swimming champions from different nations being involved will be involved in the Tahiti Swimming Experience, which will run from October 5th-16th. The all-star lineup will include; Femke Heemskerk, Sarah Sjostrom, Natalie Coughlin, Florent Manaudou, Camille Lacourt, Frederick Bosquet, Giacomo Perez Dortona and Gregory Mallet.
It will include several different events which are aimed at community development and educating people about several different aquatic activities such as stand up paddle boarding and body surfing as well as swimming. The highlight will be the Super Sprint competition, which will be held on October 9th.
The event is the brain child of 27 year old Stéphane Debaere a swimmer from French Polynesia who has won multiple medals at the Pacific Games. In an exclusive interview with Tahiti Infos Debaere goes over the reasons why he recruited the athletes he did, “The peculiarity of my team is to have brought together champions of various nationality: France, Sweden, Netherlands and USA,” said Dabaere.
“They all have a great reputation and are clearly appreciated by the general public. Finally they are friendly and accessible.”
Another goal of the event is to shine a media spotlight on Tahiti in hopes of boosting the tourism industry in the country.
