TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – Indiana State won all 16 events in the dual meet at Green Bay as the Sycamores topped the host Phoenix, 239-61, at the Peter F. Dorschel Natatorium on Saturday morning.
The Sycamores closed out their road trip to Milwaukee and Green Bay winning 31 of the 32 competed events in the pool as Indiana State continued to build off a strong preseason slate in the pool.
The Sycamores set the tone early sweeping the top two spots in the 200-yard Medley Relay and had the top three finishers in both the 1000-yard and 200-yard Freestyles. Claire Parsons (200-yard Free & 200-yard Back), Zoe Smith (1M & 3M Diving), Kaimi Matsumoto (50-yard Free & 100-yard Fly), and Alexandria Cotter (100-yard Back, 200-yard Breast) all won multiple events on the day to highlight the Sycamores.
“We did a nice job coming back this morning and having some really solid swims,” head coach Josh Christensen said. “The goal this weekend was to get in a lot of racing and see people in a variety of events. The team handled it well and we’re look forward to getting back to work and improving from here.”
Zoe Smith won the 1M diving event for the second consecutive day as the senior topped the field with a score of 283.40. Bailey Betzer was second in 243.35, while Daniela Orta Castaneda (231.85, 4th), Sierra Bowman (207.65, 5th), and Brenna Woodruff (129.90, 6th) all paced the Sycamores on the afternoon.
Trista Bullock, Ali Pearson, Raine Boles, and Kalli Agapios led the Sycamores in the 200-yard Medley Relay as the quartet took the title with a time of 1:46.87. Olivia DiRuzza, Kaleigh Kelley, Matsumoto, and Alexa Szadorski finished in 1:48.18, while Allie Barasch, Cotter, Becca Shaffer, and Jordan Gruce touched in 1:50.98. The final ISU group of Kate Reeves, Dorotea Bukvic, Raz Harel, and Ash Saple finished in 1:51.36.
Haley Halsall took home the individual title in the 1000-yard freestyle with the sophomore touching the wall in 10:43.56. Erin Cummins finished behind her teammate in 10:44.24, while Kam Nowak was third in 11:03.15 to round of the Sycamores on the podium.
ISU took four of the top five positions in the 200-yard Freestyle with Claire Parsons (1:54.30) out-touching Chloe Farro (1:56.32) for the individual win. Agapios was third in 1:58.60, while Esther Rydbeck Nordan was fifth in 2:01.93. Rose Parsons (1:58.89), Barasch (1:59.74), and Reeves (2:00.54) also took on the field.
Cotter was ISU’s leader in the 100-yard Backstroke with a time of 59.48, while DiRuzza also broke the one-minute mark in 59.56 to place third in the field. Harel (1:00.74, 4th) and Bullock (1:02.48) also posted top-five finishes.
Kelley was ISU’s top finisher in the 100-yard Breaststroke as the freshman topped teammate Szadorski 1:06.66 to 1:06.83 to take the win. Peyton Heagy was fourth in 1:09.06.
Boles and Shaffer went 1-2 in the 200-yard Fly as the Sycamore sophomores touched the wall in 2:09.72 and 2:13.04 respectively.
Matsumoto was fastest in the pool in the 50-yard Freestyle with a time of 24.33, while Saple (25.46) and Gruce (25.59) both added top-five finishes.
Smith, Betzer, and Orta Castaneda was ISU’s leaders in the 3-meter diving as the Sycamore trio finished in the top three positions. Smith scored a season-high 289.95, while Betzer (247.55) and Orta Castaneda (244.49) posted top scores. Bowman finished with 211.60, while Woodruff scored 134.45 in her second competition.
The Sycamores claimed the top seven spots and eight of the top nine in the 100-yard Freestyle event. Farro paced the way winning by 1.01 seconds with a time of 52.06 over Heagy (53.17). Agapios (54.33), Pearson (54.46), and Boles (54.86) all finished in the top five. Cummins (54.94), Gruce (55.45), and DiRuzza (56.17) rounded out the group in the field.
Claire Parsons (2:08.84) and Bukvic (2:09.01) took the top two spots in the 200-yard Backstroke, while Rydbeck Norden (2:14.94) and Harel (2:15.97) went 5-6 in the event.
Cotter (2:25.55) and Kelley (2:26.56) were the top two finishers in the 200-yard Breaststroke to lead the Sycamores in the event.
Rose Parson claimed the event title in the 500-yard Freestyle in 5:13.97, while Nowak (5:22.66) and Bullock (5:26.64) finished third and fourth in the field.
Matsumoto led five Sycamores finishing in the top five positions in the 100-yard Fly as the senior touched the wall in 58.04. Halsall (59.74), Barasch (59.85), Cummins (1:00.27), and Shaffer (1:00.64) all scored for ISU in the event.
The Sycamores posted the top four finishes in the 200-yard IM with Szadorski (2:09.84) holding off Pearson (2:11.38) for the individual win. Kelley (2:12.40) and Harel (2:14.81) finished third and fourth overall.
ISU wrapped up the day taking four of the top five positions in the 200-yard Freestyle Relay in the pool. The quartet of Heagy, Matsumoto, Boles, and Farro finished in 1:36.64 to take the win, while Barasch, Gruce, Cotter, and Cummins touched second in 1:40.37. Claire Parsons, Saple, Reeves, and Bullock were fourth in 1:41.87, while Agapios, Shaffer, DiRuzza, and Halsall finished fifth overall in 1:43.03.

GREEN BAY, Wis. – The Green Bay women’s swim and dive team hosted a women-only meet against Indiana State at the Peter F. Dorschel Natatorium on Saturday. The Sycamores outscored GB 239-61.
Annie Frederickson highlighted the day for GB, setting two personal records. She tallied three points for the Phoenix in the one-meter dive with a final score of 238.61. Her second PR happened in the three-meter dive when she recorded a final score of 242.75, good for a fourth-place finish, improving mightily from her score of 198.98 in the first team meet a week ago.
Other notable performances include Esther Oswald, who placed second in the 100-yard backstroke. She finished one-one-hundredth of a second back of first place. Later in the meet, Oswald scored three points for the Phoenix in the 200-yard backstroke, taking third place. Ella Anderson also impressed for Green Bay, taking second in the 50-yard freestyle and third in the 200-yard breaststroke.
The Phoenix will look ahead to next Saturday’s meet in Milwaukee. GB’s next home meet is November 10 against St. Norbert.
