Swedes Announce Swimming Candidates For Inaugural European Games in 2015

In the marking of a new era of sport in Europe, the Swedes are among the first nations to publicly announce their roster for the 2015 European Games that will be held in Baku, Azerbaijan.

The roster will include up to 16 boys and 10 girls, and are fairly early with the European Games not beginning until June 12th of next year. Swimmers on this list will have to meet qualifying times next year in order to go to the meet.

The inaugural version of this multi-sport event, which will be Europe’s answer to the Asian Games or Pan Am Games, will featured at least 249 events across 20 sports. Given conflicts with other pre-existing competitions, many sports’ international federations negotiated for their participation. For swimming, that meant that the 2015 Euro Games will replace the annual European Junior Championships for the year.

At the 2014 European Junior Championships, Sweden won a single medal: a bronze in the 50 breast from Sophie Hansson with a 31.65.
