Surprise NCAA Champion Jassen Yep is NOT DONE SWIMMING, Will Train LCM for US World Trials

We sat down with Jassen Yep, the Indiana Hoosier who came into Bloomington with a 1:57 200 breast and recently won an NCAA title in the same event with a 1:48. Yep takes us through his journey at Indiana and how he made the progression from barely recruited (he was not a walk-on, but he did come in with very little scholarship money) to #3 performer all-time in the 200 breast.

While Yep planned to retire after NCAAs, this wave of success and enjoyment of his sport has led Jassen to reconsider. The Hoosier will now keep training while he finishes his Master’s degree in sociology with US Trials in June in his sights.

In the SwimSwam Podcast dive deeper into the sport you love with insider conversations about swimming. Hosted by Coleman Hodges and Gold Medal Mel Stewart, SwimSwam welcomes both the biggest names in swimming that you already know, and rising stars that you need to get to know, as we break down the past, present, and future of aquatic sports.

so we got someone to stage an intervention w jassen — now we need someone to stage an intervention w julian. i dont even need them to commit to swimming past this year! at minimum all we want to see is at least (1) one long course meet out of them — and let the cookie crumble where it may!

i feel like it was always semantics — my main takeaway was that he had a sleepy freshman and sophomore year and only really took a step forward as an upperclassman. he definitely could have been dropped or not even have made it onto the roster in a roster limit world
