St. Bonaventure University has picked up a verbal commitment from back and distance freestyler Maggie Holst of Franklin, TN. She is a senior at Father Ryan High School and she swims year-round at Nashville Swim Club.
I am excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and athletic career at Saint Bonaventure University! I fell in love with the school and the amazing team. Thank you to all my coaches, teammates, friends, and most of all my family who have always been my biggest supporters. Can’t wait for the next four years!! Go Bonas!
Holst competed at the MTHSSA Regional Championships in January of 2020. She swam the 100 back and the 200 IM, and was a member of Father Ryan High School’s 200 medley and 400 free relay. She touched 8th in the 100 back and was 14th in the 200 IM. She split a time of 58.12 swimming the second leg of her team’s 400 free relay, and she went a 29.26 leading off their 200 medley relay.
She is the captain of Father Ryan High School’s women’s team as well as their 100 back record-holder.
Holst has 2019 Futures qualifying times in the 200 back in both SCY and LCM.

- 100 back – 59.09
- 200 back – 2:03.69
- 1000 free – 10:40.47
- 1650 free – 18:02.04
- 200 fly – 2:13.60
Holst will bring her top backstroke times to the Reilly Center Pool beginning in the fall of 2021. She would have been the team’s second-fastest 200 backstroker behind Zanre Oberholzer and she would have been their third-fastest in the 100 back behind Oberholzer and Allison Lenda. She would also have been their third-fastest distance freestyler behind Claire Schaef and Makenna McCartney. Oberholzer and McCartney will both have graduated before Holst joins the team.
