PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s swimming and diving honors for the week ending Oct. 23.
AMERICAN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE MALE SWIMMER OF THE WEEK
Jonathan Gomez * Jr. * SMU
Gomez finished first in three events in the Mustang’s dual meet where they defeated TCU 182-118. In the 200 IM, he had a time of 152.46 and in the 1000 free he swam 9:25.74 to finish first in both events. In the 200 fly, he finished with a time of 1:48.40 which ranks tied for 16th in the NCAA. He leads The American in all three events.

Bryce Klein * RS-Jr. * SMU
Klein won the 1-meter and 3-meter events. He scored 355.34 in the 1-meter to best his closest opponent by 56.46 points. In the 3-meter, Klein scored of 409.43 was 120.23 points ahead of his closest competitor
AROUND THE AMERICAN
SMU defeats in-state opponent TCU in a dual meet. The Mustangs men’s team won 15 of 16 events to defeat the Horned Frogs 182-118. With the win, SMU moves to 25-3-1 all-time against the Horned Frogs.
The East Carolina swimming and diving program earned its 700th victory as it swept a tri-meet with Campbell and Catawba to record its first wins of the season. The Pirate men’s team defeated Catawba 175-78 and placed first in 12 events.
