Scottsdale Aquatic Club broke the National Age Group record in the 15-16 Boys 200y Free Relay. Ryan Hoffer, Jack Blake, Aaron Apel, and Kaleb Gould stepped up at a last chance meet, hosted by SAC, where the afternoon session was swum short course yards. It provided the unique opportunity to race SCY while tapered for LCM. Here’s how they split the record breaking relay:
Ryan Hoffer 20.31
Jack Blake 19.81
Aaron Apel 22.02
Kaleb Gould 21.06
Total time 1:23.20.
Old record was 1:23.44.
@Sac Daddy they are both rested
I doubt either Hoffer or Blake were rested for this. These guys can go faster still.
Destin might go to zones, needs another meet. I think his birthday is august 6th? And zones is august 6th, but what is the rule on birthdays in USA swimming?
Brbswimming – it’s your age as of the first day of a meet that counts for National Age Group Records. Which should mean that he wouldn’t qualify anymore at Zones.
Congrats to the record breakers at SAC! Scottsdale Aquatic Club puts on great meets. It’s a lot of fun as an official and a swim parent. Great job guys!!
Lesco is pretty amazing. In particular being so close to the legendary Chas Morton’s 200 IM record which has withstood some amazing age groupers for 30 years is incredible. Hope he has a few meets left to get the records he is so close to.
Other result of the night.
At the Minnesota LC state championships, 12-year-old Regan Smith lowered her PB in the 100 back, swimming 1.04.71.
And talking about NAG records, 12-year-old Destin Lasco has again missed one by a very small margin! 😥
Last month he missed the 200 back NAG record by 0.08s.
This week on Thursday he missed the 200 IM NAG record by 0.37s.
And yesterday he missed the 100 back NAG record by 0.19s.
I really believed he could become the first 11/12 boy under the minute.
1.00.52 is still a great performance.
Please break the 200 back record on Sunday.
You deserve to have at least one long course record in your pocket. 🙂
Oh no, you swim in yards in July! 🙄 😯 😥
You are really addicted to the bathtub in USA! 😛
