A Colorado high school state qualifier in two events this year, Ashley Jackson has announced her decision to continue her swimming career this fall, committing to San Jose State University. Jackson will graduate from Legend High School in Parker, Colorado this spring and does her club swimming with the Colorado Stars.

“I’m so excited to join such an amazing team! Go Spartans! 💙💛”

Jackson wrapped up her high school swimming career this February at the 2023 CHSAA Girls 5A Swimming and Diving State Championships, competing in both the 100 breast and 200 IM. Her top finish came in the breast where she took 22nd, finishing with an altitude converted time of 1:08.27. She also added a 24th place finish in the IM (2:13.22).

Last summer, Jackson was an A-finalist in the 400 IM at the Colorado LSC Long Course Championships, taking 9th overall. She finished with a time of 5:22.67 during finals.

Top SCY Times

  • 100 breast – 1:07.16
  • 200 breast – 2:27.02
  • 200 IM – 2:13.87
  • 400 IM – 4:42.23

San Jose State finished 8th out of 9 teams at the 2023 Mountain West Conference Championships. The program was led by Zsofia Muznay, a sophomore, who was an A-finalist in both butterfly events and a B-finalist in the 500 free.

Jackson will have to improve slightly before scoring points for the Spartans at the conference level. This year it took 1:04.52/2:22.55 to earn second swims in the breaststroke events.

The Spartans had strong depth in the breaststroke events last season, with three women earning second swims in the 100 breast and four returning for finals in the 200 breast. The program’s top performer was senior Cali Rowland, who led the team in both races. Her top finish came in the 100, where she took 1oth in a time of 1:01.77. Rowland ranks within the top-10 all-time for San Jose State in both races.

While Rowland will graduate before Jackson arrives on campus, she will have one year of overlap with another one of the program’s all-time best breaststrokers, Emma Myburgh. Myburgh was a finalist in both races at the 2023 MWC Championships and ranks in the top-10 all-time for the team.
