LORETTO, PA: The women’s swimming team put on a clinic in the pool on Senior Day with 12 first-place finishes in the 16 events that were held at Stokes Natatorium.
SUMMARY
Krysta Weik (Lebanon, PA/Cedar Crest) led the way for Saint Francis with first-place finishes in the 100 and 200 yard breaststroke races and also finished first in the 200 IM. Amelia Laudenbach (Kambah, Australia/Trinity Christian School) was one of multiple Red Flash swimmers with two first-place finishes. Laudenbach finished first in the 100 and 200 yard backstroke, freshman Aurem Pifarre-Planes (Balauger, Spain) placed first in the 500 and 1000 yard freestyle swims for Saint Francis. Senior Jessica Rupp (Cincinnati,OH/Turpin) finished first in the 100 and 200 yard butterfly events and freshman Sara Blanco (Madrid, Spain/Montserrat School) placed first in the 200 yard freestyle for the Red Flash. In the relays, Saint Francis placed first in the 200 yard medlay with Laudenbach, Rupp, Weik, and Anna Bernasconi (Albany, N.Y./Bethlehem Central) being part of that group.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Weik placed first in the 100 yard breaststroke with a time of 1:07.72, she also finished with a first place time in the 200 yard breastroke with a 2:29.75 time. Lastly, Weik took first place in the 200 IM with a time of 2:14.72.
Laudenbach had a first-place finish in the 100 yard backstroke with a 58.55 time. She also claimed first in the 200 yard backstroke finishing with a 2:05.94 time.
Pifarre-Planes had a first-place time of 10:41.07 in the 1000 yard freestyle, and also first-place in the 500 yard freestyle with a fast time of 5:12.72.
Rupp claimed first-place in the 100 and 200 yard butterfly races with times of 1:00.10 and 2:12.19 respectively.
Blanco was able to finish first in the 200 yard freestyle with a good time of 1:59.53.
UP NEXT
Saint Francis will be back in the pool next Friday and Saturday when they travel to the University of Pittsburgh as part of the Western PA Invite. This will be the last time the Red Flash swim until the NEC Championships at the end of February.

LORETTO, PA – Siena Swimming & Diving was in action for the second straight week to begin the next year, wrapping dual meet competition during the 2021-22 season. The Saints fell at Saint Francis (PA), 164-124, in its final regular season meet prior to the 2022 MAAC Championships.
The meet featured the final dual meet action for seniors Sarah Duggan, Isabel Harms, and Abigail Sheridan, with Duggan’s meet ending in the 400 free relay, while Harms and Sheridan last competed in the 200 IM.
The Red Flash quickly took control for their 11th straight dual meet win over the Saints on their senior Day.
Highlights for the Green and Gold included a second place finish in the 1000 free for freshman Maddie Buck, who swam a best time of 11:07.32. Classmate Kylie Carter (2:00.75) placed second in the 200 free, while sophomore Audrey Shultz took second in 100 yard (1:10.35) and 200 yard (2:30.07) breaststroke.
Junior Rory Kalac cruised to victory in the 50 free with a time of 24.77, and claimed the top spot in the 100 free at 54.13. Harms went for second place in the 200 back with a time of 2:13.73, while junior Reilly King went for second in the 500 free (5:23.67).
The Saints ended the meet with the pairing of freshman Shaylea Triller, Carter, Buck, and Kalac winning the 400 yard freestyle relay with a mark of 3:38.45.
Following the conclusion of its ninth competition date of the year, Siena will now turn its attention to the 2022 MAAC Swimming & Diving Championships, which are set for February 9-12 on the campus of Erie Community College in Buffalo, New York.
