MILFORD, Conn.- Victory in the pool came for the Sacred Heart University swimming and diving team on Saturday as they defeated Stony Brook 160-139.
Of Note
- First-year Caroline Duhamel captured first in the 1000 yard freestyle with a time of 11:01.00 and first in the 500 yard freestyle with a time of 5:23.53.
- Olivia McNicholas captured both diving events winning the 1-meter dive with a season high score of 221.93.
- She also took first in the 5 dive voluntary event and just missed the pool record by .43 points with a score of 186.53.
- In the 400 freestyle relay, the Pioneers took first with a time of 3:42.51 with Alivia Gibson, Ella Krikorian, Grace Bergstrom and Nicole Tingley swimming in the relay.

MILFORD, Conn. – The Stony Brook University women’s swimming and diving team got the 2021-22 season underway on Saturday at Sacred Heart. The Seawolves picked up wins in eight events and Maddy Enda set a new pool record in the 200 fly with a stellar time of 2:07.71. Despite a strong effort by Stony Brook, it was narrowly edged by Sacred Heart, 160-139.
The Seawolves had three student-athletes win multiple events in their season opener. Enda, senior Jessica Salmon, and junior Reagan MacDonald each recorded two wins. Enda earned wins in the 100 and 200 fly, Salmon was victorious in the 100 and 200 breaststroke, and MacDonald claimed victory in the 200 back and 200 IM. Enda and Salmon were also members of the Seawolves’ 200 medley relay squad that finished in first-place.
HIGHLIGHTS
- Stony Brook got the meet off with a bang as it won the 200 medley relay to get the action going. The relay team comprised of sophomore Briana Liew, Salmon, Enda, and sophomore Mary Kate Conway recorded a final time of 1:49.97 to pick up the win. The Seawolves’ squad of MacDonald, junior Amanda Heinz, sophomore Lara Youssef, and senior Emma Waechter took second in the race with a time of 1:52.04.
- Salmon secured Stony Brook’s first individual win of the meet as she claimed first-place in the 100 breaststroke with a final time of 1:08.26. Salmon later picked up a win in the 200 breaststroke as she touched the wall in 2:28.29 for her second individual victory of the meet.
- Enda followed Salmon by taking first-place in the 200 fly in record breaking style. Enda registered a standout time of 2:07.71 to set a new pool record at Sacred Heart in the 200 fly. She would go on to earn another victory in the 100 fly by touching the wall in 58.78.
- Conway had a solid day in the pool as she earned a victory in the 100 free with a final time of 53.68. Individually, Conway also recorded a second-place finish in the 200 fly with a time of 2:08.82. She was a member of the 200 medley relay squad that won the race and 400 free relay team that took second-place.
- MacDonald secured a pair of wins for the Seawolves on Saturday. The junior won the 200 back with a time of 2:09.12 and later claimed victory in the 200 IM as she touched the wall in 2:14.05.
