Rio Torch Relay Day 63: Four More Cities In Rio Grande do Sul

On each day of the official Olympic torch relay, carrying the Olympic flame to the Olympic cauldron in Rio de Janeiro, the Rio2016 Facbeook page is posting brilliant and spectacular images from one of the world’s unique and most beautiful landscapes. Each day until August 5th, we will bring you these stunning images.

On day 63 of the Olympic torch relay the torch visited four cities in Rio Grande do Sul, all located in the central region of the state. The state itself is in the southern region of Brazil.

It first travelled through São Miguel das Missões, a municipality with a population of about 7700. It travelled east throughout the day, hitting Santo Ângelo, Ijuí and Cruz Alta. Santo Ângelo has a population of about 76,000, Ijuí has a population of 79,000, and Cruz Alta has a population of about 63,000.
