Watch as Elizabeth Beisel of the Gator Swim Club put up a dominant double on day 3 of the 2014 Santa Clara Grand Prix.
First, she started the session with an absolutely dominant 400 IM, with a 4:33.52, to move to 4th in the world this year and to win the race by 6 seconds, posting a 4:33.52. Watch that video above
She would then come back later in the session to win the 200 backstroke ahead of defending World and Olympic champion Missy Franklin, as well as Liz Pelton, going a 2:09.11. Watch that video below.
Also, watch Celina Li win the B-Final of the women’s 400 IM and watch Tasjia Karosas win the B-Final of the women’s 200 backstroke.
First, thanks to USA swimming for posting the race videos on youtube.

It’s cool.
Keep up the good work!
Second, fantastic double for Miss Beisel.
Third, it’s very rare, I must say it’s the first time for me, to see Missy fading at the end of her 200 back. Usually she’s very strong in the last 50. She must train very hard. Hopefully everything will be fine in August but RIGHT NOW her freestyle looks stronger than ever and her backstroke is average (in Missy’s world of course). We’ll see her 100 back but I admit I’m a little concerned RIGHT NOW. No panic… Read more »
Of course it’s too early to answer this question, but I do wonder whether (assuming she qualifies to swim 100/200 free and back again in Rio) it would be wiser to swim only 2 of the races individually. She’ll be a little older and more muscular and she’s not training at altitude anymore and I think her ability to recover quickly enough to do doubles at big meets won’t be as good.
