Initial psych sheets for the 2016 Arena Pro Swim Series stop in Orlando, the third locale in this year’s series, have been released. The meet begins Thursday, March 3rd and runs through Saturday, March 5th.
The meet will be packed with national and international talent, although Missy Franklin, who earlier announced she would be competing, is noticeably absent.
- Michael Phelps is the top seed in both the 100 fly and the 100 free, and he will also be swimming a couple off-events, the 100 back and 200 breast. The 100 free will be the event to watch for the weekend, where Phelps will take on the likes of Nathan Adrian, world record holder Cesar Cielo and Caeleb Dressel, fresh off his SCY American record.
- Caeleb Dressel will also take on Adrian and Cielo, along with Kazan bronze medalist Bruno Fratus in the 50 free.
- Katie Ledecky is slated to take on Allison Schmitt in the 200 free. She’ll also compete in the 50 free, the 100 free, the 200 IM, and the 400 IM, taking on the likes of Natalie Coughlin, Simone Manuel, Maya Dirado, and Elizabeth Beisel.
- Yulia Efimova and Lotte Friis are both in the country, headlining the breaststroke events (Efimova) and, with Ledecky unentered, the 800 free (Friis).
- Other big-name swimmers to watch out for will include: Shannon Vreeland, Joao De Lucca, Conor Dwyer, Felicia Lee, Molly Hannis, Tom Shields, Chase Kalisz, Aliaksandra Herasimenia, Matt Grevers, Etiene Medeiros, Nick Fink, Connor Jaeger, Thiago Pereira, Ryan Murphy, and Santiago Corredor.
BIG HUGE Line – up !!! It was about time to get into some LC Big meet leading to the OT . I will be curious to watch the many mano amano between the Super Stars – Specially 50 and 100 free . Have not seen such ballistic group of fast sprinters put together in a long time . Jeahhhh

Ok.. WHY is Feigen/Jones on a French meet not on Orlando???? Are they on a training camp in Europe?
Rafael, I don’t expect at all a sub 48 from Dressel in Orlando!
If he does it, that will happen fully tapered after weeks of long course training at olympic trials. Not right now.
I just anticipate some comments….
Also curious what will ruck deliver this time. She is a key part of Canada relay bronze hopes
About ledecky 400im. How old hosszu is? don’t think the iron lady will give her Kingdom easy
If Katie puts her focus on 400im hosszu might not have any choice.
Agreed – she is a fierce competitor and a Passionate hard worker in practice . Anything is possible with KL
I think people act like swimming sub 48 is something very easy that must always be done. Swimming 21 mid is far easier than sub 48
Agreed, the 100 fr lc is a tough cookie. Requires drop dead speed combined with endurance to withstand that last 25.
Dressel. I don’t know what to expect for that long course meet. Not the easiest situation between 2 full rested college meets in yards.
I can already imagine some comments if he doesn’t swim at least 21.50 and a sub 48 this week! 😆
