2017 FINA WORLD SWIMMING CHAMPIONSHIPS

Farida Osman picked up her second African record of the night, and her fifth of the meet, with a 24.66 in the semifinals of the 50 free.  Osman just missed the final, finishing 9th, but she did improve the 24.78 mark she set in the morning’s prelims.

Earlier this session, Osman earned a bronze medal in the 50 fly.  Not only did she set the African mark for the third time in three swims at this meet, but Osman also earned Egypt’s first ever swimming medal at a World Championships.

Outside of Osman, Egypt has been a little snake-bitten this week, with three 9th-place finishes, just missing finals in each, and two 17th places finishes, as well.
