Ohio State Adds BOTR Ranked Recruit Anna Shnowske For 2026

Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.

Futures runner-up and USA Swimming Scholastic All-American Anna Shnowske has verbally committed to swim for Ohio State University in the fall of 2026. A butterfly and freestyle specialist, Shnowske was ranked as a best of the rest recruit in the Way-Too-Early rankings for the girls’ high school class of 2026. She currently trains with 757 Swim in Virginia, where she holds several team records.

Shnowske is not the first in her family to commit to a Division 1 school for swimming. Her brother, Matthew Shnowske, is a freshman swimmer at Davidson College and earned USA Swimming Scholastic All-American honors in 2022.

“I am so excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and athletic career at The Ohio State University! First of all I want to thank God for His grace and guidance throughout this process. I would like to thank all the amazing coaches who have supported me along the way, especially Coaches Drew, Morgan, Amy, Anne, and Matt! I am grateful to the OSU coaching staff for believing in me and giving me this amazing opportunity! And of course I want to thank my parents and siblings for their support and being my biggest (and loudest) cheerleaders! ❤️🩶Go Buckeyes!!!”

Shnowske earned several personal bests at the 2025 VSI SC Senior Championships (SCY) in early March, achieving second swims in six events. She finished 1st in the 50 free (22.97) and 100 free (49.49), 2nd in the 200 free (1:47.57), 100 fly (53.48), and 200 fly (1:56.31), and 3rd in the 200 IM (2:02.32). The 50 free, 100 free, and both butterfly swims were personal bests.

She set a lifetime best in the 200 free as the leadoff swimmer in her team’s 800 free relay, recording a time of 1:47.07. The relay placed 2nd overall. Her times in the 50 free, 100 free, 200 free, 100 fly, and 200 fly all qualify her for Summer Junior Nationals.

In July 2024, Shnowske was a finalist at the Futures Championship in Richmond (LCM), finishing 2nd in the 100 free (57.11) and 4th in the 200 free (2:03.97). Her 100 free time was a personal best and qualified her for the U.S. Open. She also placed 13th in the 50 free (26.95).

Top Yard Times

  • 50 Free – 22.97
  • 100 Free – 49.49
  • 200 Free – 1:47.07
  • 100 Fly – 53.48
  • 200 Fly – 1:56.31

Ohio State won the 2025 Women’s Big Ten Championships after securing 2nd place behind Indiana the previous season. Shnowske has the potential to make an impact on the Buckeyes’ butterfly group upon her arrival. Her 200 fly time of 1:56.31 would have placed her in the ‘A’ final at this year’s Big Ten Championships and ranked 2nd on the team, just behind junior Lucy Malys’ time of 1:56.07.

Shnowske could make an impact in the 100 fly as well, where her time would have ranked 3rd on the team this season, behind seniors Nyah Funderburke (52.36) and Paige Hall (53.27). She also holds solid times in the 50 free (22.97) and 100 free (49.49) and still has another year to continue dropping time.

Shnowske will join Macie McCarter and Sarah Juiris as part of the Buckeyes’ 2026 recruiting class. McCarter specializes in backstroke and the medley, while Juiris specializes in sprint freestyle.
