Abigail Schauer of Beavercreek, Ohio has committed to swim for Ohio Northern University in Ada, just about 80 miles northwest of Columbus. Schauer is a senior at Beavercreek High School where she swims backstroke and breaststroke. She is also a member of Dayton Raiders. Schauer placed 2nd in the 100 back and 3rd in the 100 breast at the Central District Sectionals in February. Nearly all her best SCY times (50/200 back, 50/100 breast, and 200 IM) come from the Tim Myers Senior Invite and OLY Winter Invite this fall. Last summer she improved her PBs in the LCM 100/200/400 free, 100 breast and 200 IM.
Schauer is a terrific pick-up for the Polar Bears. Her best times would have scored in the A finals of the 100/200 back and 100 breast at the 2019 Ohio Athletic Conference Championships, where ONU finished 3rd behind John Carroll and Mount Union. She will arrive just in time to replace graduating senior Kierra Watson, the top backstroker on the team. Schauer top times would have ranked second this year in both the 100 back and 200 back. She would have led the Polar Bears’ efforts in breaststroke and will join juniors Katelyn Koebel and Katey Stuart, both of whom scored in the A finals of the 100 breast and 200 breast.
