NORFOLK, Va. — Davidson swimmers won 16 events and the Wildcat women’s team emerged with a team victory as well at Saturday’s dual meet at Old Dominion.
With 11 event wins and many 1-2 finishes, the Davidson women topped ODU 173-89, while the Wildcat men were edged 142-120 in a tight contest.
“We’re really impressed by both teams today,” said Davidson coach John Young. “The women took control of the energy and the score early and enjoyed a big win. The men’s meet was close and exciting throughout, with five lead changes. ODU deserves credit for winning this one, especially given the way our men performed.”
Anna Newman was a three-event winner, taking first in the 100 breast (1:06.07), 200 breast (2:24.28) and 200 IM (2:08.87). Nora Ratmeyer also swam to multiple wins, touching first in the 100 back (59.47) and 100 fly (58.56). Ginny Thorsen (1,000 free, 10:38.72), Addison Constantinides (200 free, 1:56.24), Cynthia Huang (200 fly, 2:12.04), Addy Donaldson (50 free, 24.39) and Brooke Mahoney (500 free, 5:13.65) also earned first-place points. Mahoney, Thorsen, Constantinides and Donaldson won the 400 free relay in 3:35.90.
Additionally, multiple Wildcats finished ahead of their ODU competitors, including Rani Greer (2nd, 500 free and 1,000 free), Mahoney (2nd, 200 free), Lea Nader (2nd, 200 fly), Huang (2nd, 200 IM), Kelsa Dator (2nd, 200 breast) and Maggie McCabe (2nd, 100 breast; 3rd, 200 breast).
Dylan Felt led the Davidson men, swimming out front in the 100 free (45.14) and 1,000 free (9:28.08). Fletcher Smith led a 1-2-3 Wildcat finish in the 200 fly (1:50.67), complemented by Robby Votta and Miles Charles, and Jeremy Kemp won the 200 back (1:52.19), with Liam McDonough securing a 1-2 Davidson finish.
McDonough, Andrew Schou, Charles and Guil Ware won the 200 medley relay in 1:31.63.

NORFOLK, Va. – The Old Dominion University men’s swimming team defeated Davidson 142-120 on Saturday afternoon at the JC Scrap Chandler Pool. The women’s team fell to Davidson 173-89.
Prior to the meet, ODU honored its 14 seniors: Marian Cheramy, Kiersten Donnelly, Mary Dunworth, Julia de Camargo Gusso, Angela Sicaja, Laila Webb, Sydney Welker, Kristina Zachary, Anthony Capizzi, Carson Doll, Gustaf Hansson, Ryan Lincicum, Owen Rolph and Johnathan Walden.
The women’s squad began the meet on the right foot, winning the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:48.16. Samantha Allred, Bridget Morris Larkin, Kiersten Donnelly and Lauren Masters earned the win.
The men’s 200 medley relay team of Gustaf Hansson, Bryce Mortimer, Dawson Truong and Ryan Lincicum came in second with a time of 1:32.44.
In the 1000 freestyle, Sophia Kapla finished in third with a time of 10:51.24.
Cooper Beebe finished second in the men’s 1000 freestyle with a time of 9:51.14.
In the women’s 200 free, Bella Pachek took third in a time of 1:57.68.
Jamie Cleaver won the men’s 200 free in a time of 1:41.22, while Grey Bremer finished second in a time of 1:42.88 and August Eriksson finished third in 1:43.58.
Linnea Kallebo took second in the 100 backstroke with a time of 59.47.
In the men’s 100 backstroke, Gustaf Hansson earned a win with a time of 50.35.
Morris Larkin earned the third position in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:07.45.
Bryce Mortimer won the men’s 100 breaststroke with a time of 57.00, while Truong took third with a time of 58.32.
Angela Sicaja finished in third in the 200 butterfly with a time of 2:15.38.
Pachek earned another top-three finish with a time of 24.71 to take second in the 50 free.
Zach Redding won the men’s 50 free with a time of 20.49 and Lincicum took third in 21.50.
Lauren Masters won the 100 free with a time of 53.42.
Redding and Eriksson placed second and third in the 100 free. Redding had a time of 45.37, while Eriksson finished in 47.02.
Kallebo notched another win for the Monarchs with a time of 2:06.18 in the 200 backstroke.
Hansson finished in third place in the men’s 200 backstroke with a time of 1:53.95.
Mortimer notched his second win with a time of 2:04.40 in the 200 breaststroke.
Kapla added a third place spot to her ledger with a time of 5:19.65 in the 500 free.
Bremer added a win in the men’s 500 free with a time of 4:35.00 as Cleaver finished second in 4:43.47.
Sicaja and Masters finished second and third, respectively in the 100 fly. Sicaja in 59.18 and Masters in 59.50.
Redding added another win with a time of 49.18 in the 100 fly.
In the final individual events, Kaylee Eggers finished third in the 200 IM with a time of 2:11.98.
Mortimer recorded his third win of the meet with a time of 1:53.12 in the 200 IM and Bremer took third in 1:57.80.
In the final event, the 400 free relay, the team of Pachek, Jadyn Whitt, Eggers and Masters took second with a time of 3:38.60.
The men’s 400 free relay team of Cleaver, Eriksson, Lincicum, and Redding earned a win with a time of 3:02.53.
