North Carolina State Champion Bode Ringenbach Commits to George Washington

Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.

Bode Ringenbach, a senior at Ravenscroft School in Raleigh, North Carolina, has announced his commitment to swim for George Washington University after his graduation in the spring. Outside of high school, Ringenbach competes for the Marlins of Raleigh. He is a Winter Junior qualifier in multiple events as well as being a multiple event A-finals qualifier at the Futures Championships in Cary.

Last February, at the 2020 North Carolina Independent Schools D1 State Championship meet, Ringenbach was the state champion in both of his events. He took first in the 200 free (1:42.50) and 100 breast (56.37). At the same meet in 2019, he finished first in the 500 free (4:41.71), as well as adding a second-place finish in the 100 IM (1:53.50).

Ringenbach was also a multi-event finalist at the Champions Series meet in Cary last spring. He qualified for the A-final in the 100 breast, 200 breast, 200 back, and 200 IM.

George Washington took 2nd at the 2020 Atlantic-10 Conference Championships, narrowly falling to George Mason.

At the conference championship, Ringenbach’s biggest impact would have come in the 400 IM, where his best time would have earned him a spot in the A-final. He also would have narrowly missed qualifying for the B-final of the 200 back, where the 16th fastest time out of prelims was only .3 faster than his current best time.

George Washington’s Moritz Fath was recognized as the swimmer of the meet at the conference championships. He was the conference champion in the 100 free, 200 free, and 500 free.

Late last month the school announced that it would be cutting 7 of the 27 sports that it offered. While the swim team was unaffected, the school’s women’s water polo team was cut in the school’s effort to “streamline” it’s athletic department.
