Nolan Scanlan, a current high school senior from Waukesha, Wisconsin, has committed to swim for Division 3 Amherst College in Massachusetts. Scanlan will be graduating from high school in spring 2020 and join the Amherst Mammoth’s class of 2024.
Scanlan is a current swimmer for Waukesha Express Swim. Earlier this year at the WIAA DI Sectional-Hudson, Scanlan was champion in the 200 IM (1:55.07) and at the Wisconsin 13&O SCY State Championships, he placed 3rd in both the 200 backstroke (1:49.99) and 100 buttefly (50.49). Scanlan is also a USA Swimming Scholastic All-American and Speedo Junior Nationals qualifier.
At the 2020 NESCAC Championships with the Mammoths, Scanlan would have been a huge asset to the team. With his current best times, he would have had multiple finals performances. Most notably, he would have placed 4th in the 200 backstroke (1:49.44) behind senior Mammoth Craig Smith (1:47.63). With this time, Scanlan would have been Amherst’s second fastest 200 backstroker.
He also would have placed 5th in the 200 IM (1:52.65) and would have been the Mammoth’s top 200 IM’er.

At the 2020 NESCAC Championships, Amherst placed 3rd as a team with 6 top-3 finishes. Eight Mammoths were given CSCAA All-American honors as well.
Scanlan will begin his swimming career at Amherst College fall 2020.
