Alex Swanson and Haley Murphy, teammates on the Napa Valley Swim Team both signed their National Letters of Intent last week.
Swanson will be an important sprint free/breaststroke piece for the University of Hawaii. In yards, her bests are 24.45 in the 50 yard free and 52.93 in the 100 yard free, plus a 1:05.28 in the 100 yard breaststroke.
She will come in and immediately push then-senior Natalie Garger for a spot on Hawaii’s top medley relays, though Garger is having a great junior year for the Wahine, so that spot won’t go easily in year one.
Murphy is committed to swim for Division II UC San Diego, where she will join a very good sprint group. In yards, her bests are 24.29/52.93 in the 50 and 100 yard freestyles. UCSD has a very young sprint group, but with those times Murphy could immediately become a part of their NCAA relays. The Tritons finished 3rd at the 2013 NCAA Division II National Championship meet.
