NIAGARA UNIVERSITY, N.Y. — The Niagara University women’s swimming team outpaced Cleveland State University 120-85, while the men’s team fell short 107-98 in a dual meet held Friday.
The Purple Eagles women dominated, securing victories in multiple events, including both relays. Niagara opened strong with a win in the 200-yard medley relay (1:45.77) and closed out the meet by taking the 400-yard freestyle relay (3:33.54).
Sophomore Natalie Killion stood out with individual wins in the 1000-yard freestyle (10:23.53), setting a program and pool record in the process, and 200-yard backstroke (2:04.13).
Sophomore Alaina Pitton claimed first place in both the 100-yard individual medley (59.00) and 200-yard breaststroke (2:19.24).
Other notable performances for Niagara’s women included Martina Divis, who touched first in the 200-yard freestyle (1:56.76) and 500-yard freestyle (5:08.61). Paige South added a win in the 50-yard freestyle (24.29).
On the men’s side, despite the narrow loss, Niagara swimmers posted several strong showings. The men’s team started off with a victory in the 200-yard medley relay (1:32.30) and also claimed first in the meet-closing 400-yard freestyle relay (3:06.65) as the quartet of Reid Tichy, Jacob Wade, Holden Brock, and Nathan Dragon set an Oxy Aquatic Center record, previously held by Cleveland State.
Senior Sean Finley led the way in individual events with victories in the 100-yard individual medley (52.47) and 200-yard breaststroke (2:04.24).
Nathan Dragon secured a win in the 500-yard freestyle (4:42.49), while Reid Tichy topped the podium in the 200-yard freestyle (1:45.14).
Niagara’s men had multiple second-place finishes, including Brock in the 200-yard backstroke (1:55.13), Elliott Burgos in the 200-yard butterfly (1:57.13), and Levi Morgan in the 50-yard freestyle (20.89) and 100-yard freestyle (47.06).

NIAGARA, N.Y. – The Cleveland State women (1-1) fell on the road to Niagara (1-1) by a score of 120-85 on Friday evening.
Grace Chelf won two events on the afternoon: the 50-yard freestyle (24.00) and 100-yard freestyle (53.07).
The 200-yard butterfly went to Giovanna Cappabianca as the graduate transfer touched in 2:09.94. She later finished second in the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:23.20.
Cleveland State went second and third in the 100-yard IM with Audrey Butcher (1:00.61) and Ella Ciez (1:01.78).
The Viking claimed the second and third spots in the 200-yard backstroke with Butcher (2:09.33) and Hannah Panko (2:10.67).
Isabella Caraballo was the runner-up in the 1000-yard freestyle (10:34.79) and 500-yard freestyle (5:10.12).
The Vikings got third-place finishes from Kayla Brock in the 200-yard freestyle (1:59.17) and Haley Palmer in the 50-yard freestyle (24.74).
Cleveland State will remain on the road to face Youngstown State on Saturday, Nov. 2 at 11 a.m.
NIAGARA, N.Y. – The Cleveland State men (2-0) upended Niagara (0-1) on Friday evening by a score of 107-98.
Paddy Johnston was victorious in the 50-yard freestyle (20.75) and 100-yard freestyle (45.93).
The Vikings went one-and-two in the 1000-yard freestyle with Brock Wallace (9:51.46) and Tanner Beck (10:02.57).
In the next race, the Green and White again took the top two spots with Jackson Nester (1:41.80) and Connor Green (1:42.63).
Nate Steiner took home the 200-yard butterfly after finishing in 1:56.23.
Nester won his second event in the 500-yard freestyle as the senior finished in 4:39.08. Green came in third, clocking a 4:52.25.
Wallace claimed his second win in the 200-yard backstroke after touching in 1:53.52.
In the 200-yard breaststroke, Schultze finished as the runner-up after touching in 2:07.74.
Cameron Craft put up a third-place finish in the 100-yard freestyle after finishing in 47.69.
Cleveland State will remain on the road to face Youngstown State on Saturday, Nov. 2 at 11 a.m.
