DURHAM, N.H. – The Wildcats took first place in 14 of the 16 events as the University of New Hampshire swimming and diving team picked up two wins, defeating Siena 206-87, and Merrimack by a score of 216-72 in a dual meet at Swasey Pool.
“We had a real strong day today, on the boards and in the pool,” head coach Josh Willman said. “We just completed a real tough week of training, jumping into today’s meet and people really rose to the occasion and had strong performances.”

how it happened
- Kicking off the meet, the 200-yard medley relay team of freshman Amelia Labno (Rosemount, Minn.), sophomore Emily Wright (Ventura, Calif.), sophomore Grace Mahon (Orange, Conn.), and senior Chiara Maria Pradissitto (Milan, Italy) claimed first place with a time of 1:49.07.
- Making her season debut, sophomore Jessica Briers (St. Louis, Mo.) secured two victories, winning the 1000 free in 10:43.74 and later the 500 free with a time of 5:12.13.
- Mahon dominated in her two individual events, claiming first in the 200 free (1:55.97) and the 100 butterfly (56.37).
- Labno added to the Wildcats’ wins, finishing the 100 back in 58.24 seconds for first place.
- Wright put in a stellar performance, taking first in both the 100 breaststroke (1:06.62) and 200 breaststroke (2:24.43). She also posted the fastest time in the 200 IM at 2:11.63, though UNH opted not to score in that event.
- Senior Megumi Komoto (Schaumburg, Ill.) won the 200 butterfly, clocking in at 2:08.18 to add another first-place finish for UNH.
- With impressive speed, junior Audrey Mahoney (Downers Grove, Ill.) claimed victory in the 50 free, finishing in 24.07 seconds, and continued her momentum with a win in the 100 free at 52.18.
- Sophomore Grace Blume (Dedham, Mass.) had another standout day in diving, taking first in the 1-meter dive with a score of 258.90 and winning the 3-meter dive with 243.15 points.
- Wrapping up the individual events, sophomore Izzie Campion (Auckland, New Zealand) secured the top spot in the 200 backstroke, finishing in 2:07.51.

Siena Swimming & Diving went 1-1 on Saturday afternoon in its tri-meet against New Hampshire (UNH) and Merrimack. UNH topped the Saints 206-87 while Siena defeated Merrimack 208-81 from Swasey Pool in Durham, NH.
Carsyn Ide was the team’s lone individual winner on the afternoon, taking the 200 IM in 2:16.23. Teammate Emme Starzman finished just behind in second, touching the wall in 2:17.33.
The Saints also had the top-two 200 free relay teams, as the unit of Kylie Carter, Camryn Raines, Gabrielle Rentosa, and Shaylea Triller (1:39.21) edged out Natalie Blume, Mya Reed, Grace Neno, and Brooke Pociask (1:42.44).
Maddie Buck was another Saint to place second in an event as the senior was the 200 free runner-up in 1:59.65. In the 50 free, Carter claimed second with a mark of 25.17 – followed by teammates Shaylea Triller in third (25.26), and Raines in fourth (25.42). Carter later finished as the runner-up in the 200 breast with a time of 2:27.94.
Triller notched a third place showing in the 100 free (54.42), coming within two seconds of her top-10 performance time set last season.
GayLynn Kirn (third, 10:57.79) and Blume (fourth, 11:05.94) turned in top-five finishes in the 1,000 free. Rentosa and Ide also had top-five finishes in the 100 back – Rentosa taking fourth in 59.74, and Ide fifth in 1:01.13. Rentosa came within 0.28 seconds of cracking the top-10 performers list.
Other top-five showing included Leslie Dame in the 100 breast (fourth, 1:08.82) & in the 100 fly (fourth, 1:00.42), Blume in the 100 free (fifth, 54.97), and Kirn in the 200 back (fourth, 2:11.69).
On the boards, Claire Donlon (204.75), Sydney Murray (193.05), and Jenna Wyner (184.35) finished sixth-eighth in the 1m, while Donlon took fourth in the 3m with a score of 211.65, and Murray seventh with a 190.65.
The Saints are back in action next Saturday, Nov. 9 for their first home meet of the season. The team welcomes MAAC opponents Sacred Heart and Rider for a noon start from the Siena Swim Center.
