MOUNTAIN WEST WOMEN’S SWIMMER & DIVER OF THE WEEK
Nevada’s Teresa Baerens and Toma Shmitova honored
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Nevada senior Teresa Baerens has been named Mountain West Swimmer of the Week, while teammate Toma Shmitova has earned MW Women’s Diver of the Week honors for competition through October 30, 2016. It is the second MW weekly honor for both student-athletes.
The Mountain West Women’s Swimming & Diving Championships will be held February 15-18 at the Texas A&M Natatorium in College Station, Texas.
WOMEN’S SWIMMER OF THE WEEK
TERESA BAERENS, NEVADA
Senior, Ottobrunn, Germany / Max-Joseph-Shift Gymnasium
· Led Nevada to its second dual victory of the season, 177-123 at Fresno State.
· Won two individual races and one relay, while placing second in a third individual event.
· Won the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:51.49.
· Posted a winning time of 51.78 in the 100-yard freestyle.
· Placed second with a time of 2:07.01 in the 200-yard individual medley.
· Swam the anchor leg of the winning 400-yard medley relay team (3:47.98).
WOMEN’S DIVER OF THE WEEK
TOMA SHMITOVA, NEVADA
Sophomore, St. Petersburg, Russia / College of Olympic Reserve
· Won both springboard events for Nevada in 177-123 win at Fresno State.
· Won the 1-meter springboard event with an NCAA-qualifying score of 309.08.
· Took the 3-meter title with an NCAA-qualifying, and personal-best, score of 326.48.
