Holly Hopson of the Millard Aquatic Club in Omaha, NE, has verbally committed to the Florida Atlantic Owls’ class of 2020. The senior at Millard North High School was a two-time finalist at the 2014-15 Nebraska State Championships, placing 3rd in both the 500-yard free (5:03.68) and the 100-yard breast (1:06.95). She currently holds the school record in the 500-yard free (5:03.68) and is part of the record holding 200 medley relay (1:47.55) and 400 free relay (3:36.26).

Hopson’s best times are as follows:

  • 100-yard free: 53.62
  • 200-yard free: 1:54.09
  • 500-yard free: 5:03.68
  • 100-yard breast: 1:06.96
  • 100-yard back: 59.88
  • 100-yard fly: 58.83
  • 200-yard IM: 2:09.12

I chose FAU because I fell in love with the team & the coaches as soon as I met them. The campus is beautiful and I can’t wait to spend the next 4 years studying & swimming in paradise! Go Owls! -Hopson

Hopson’s best times would place her among the Conference USA top times for the 2015-16 season so far. Her 100-yard breaststroke would place her 5th, her 200-yard IM, 500-yard free and 200-yard free would place her 6th, 7th and 9th respectively.

Since 2014, Hopson has dropped 6 seconds in her 500-yard free, 5 seconds in her 100-yard breast and 9 seconds in her 200-yard IM. With this steady progression, she will be sure to make an impact for the Owls starting next fall.
