NCISAA Record-holder Ellie Henry Verbally Commits to William and Mary

Ellie Henry, a rising senior at The O’Neal School in Southern Pines, North Carolina, has verbally committed to swim for William and Mary in the class of 2022.

“I am so thrilled to announce my verbal commitment to William & Mary swimming! #gotribe.”

Henry won the 100 back and broke a 14-year North Carolina Independent Schools Athletic Association 1A/2A state record by .03, with 57.44. She was also third in the 50 free (24.61) and swam legs on the 200 medley and 400 free relays. In 2016, as a sophomore, she won the 50 free and led off the Falcons’ winning 200 medley relay and fourth-place 400 free relay.

Henry swims year-round for the Sandhills Sand Sharks under Derek Young. At the North Carolina LC Senior Championships in July, she placed fourth in the 200 back with a best time by 5 seconds, and 20th in the 100 breast, lowering her seed time by 1.9 seconds. She went PBs in the 50/100 freestyles, as well.

Her best SCY times include:

  • 200 back – 2:01.74
  • 100 back – 56.76
  • 50 back – 27.14
  • 50 free – 24.42
  • 100 free – 53.36
  • 100 breast – 1:07.39
  • 400 IM – 4:34.11
