NBAC Co-Founder Timothy Pierce Passes Away at 71 Years Old

A prodigious figure in Maryland swimming, Timothy O. Pierce senior passed away from cancer on October 16th of this year at Gilchrist Hospice Care. He was 71.

Pierce is best known as the co-founder of the North Baltimore Aquatic Club in 1967, and five years later he was elected as the general chairman of Maryland Swimming.

He would later coach at the Loyola Blakefield preparatory school program which won 7 National Catholic Championship titles, the 1980 National Prep School championship, and coached 55 high school All-American swimmers.

In 1986, he was inducted into the Maryland Swimming Hall of Fame as part of the second-ever class, and went on to coach another 19 years before retiring in 2005 (though he never fully stepped away from the sport).

A memorial service will be held at 5PM on November 9th at Loyola Blakefield.
