RALEIGH, N.C.- Wolfpack diver Rachel Mumma punched her ticket this week to the 2015 World University Games, as she earned an official spot on the USA Diving national team.
She has made history with this honor, as she is the first diver in NC State’s swimming and diving program to earn a spot on the Team USA roster.
“This is a huge moment for our program,” said head diving coach Yahya Radman. “We’re very excited and very proud of Rachel’s hard work. Her accomplishment shows that we are on the right path to reaching her goals.”
“There is nothing better than to represent your home country and see the American flag raised on foreign soil, and this will be a great way for Rachel to kick off this next year by going to compete in South Korea,” Radman added.
In December, Mumma finished fourth in the one-meter dive at the 2014 USA Diving Winter National Championships to qualify for a selection spot on the USA Diving national team. This week, she managed to earn her spot on the final roster.
The 2015 World University Games will be held July 3-14 in Gwangju City, South Korea.
