MP Swim Tips by Bob Bowman – Episode Three
Bob Bowman, head coach of the Arizona State Sun Devils Swimming and Diving Team, explains how his swimmers train with snorkels. Demonstrated by the greatest athlete of all-time, Michael Phelps, snorkels are used for a wide variety reasons.
Training with Snorkels
Bob likes to use snorkels for kick sets. Snorkels allow the swimmer’s head, neck and spine to be in a natural swimming position. Swimmers can also use snorkels on kick sets with arms on by their sides for rotational kicking.
Bob uses snorkels in pull sets as well. Snorkels help the swimmer keep their head in line so they really focus on technique.
What Bob Likes about the Focus Snorkel
One of Bob’s favorite new products from the MP Line is the Focus Snorkel. Its streamline design allows swimmers to cut through the water in a more natural form. Bob also likes the stability of the Focus Snorkel, a feature that’s missing from other snorkels. The added stability helps to ensure no side-to-side movement when you’re swimming.
