Montclair, NJ. – The Montclair State University swimming & diving teams went a combined 3-0 as they topped Kean and Saint Peter’s on Saturday.
The men’s team (3-2) topped the Peacocks 155-107, as the women’s team (6-1) downed SPU 197-46 and Kean 148-112. ROURKE PERALTA broke the Panzer Pool 50-freestyle record for the second straight home meet, touching the wall in 24.06.
HOW IT HAPPENED (WOMEN)
- The Red Hawks started off strong as SOPHIA SHOPOVICK, MADDY WISHNOW, ABBY BROCK, and Peralta notched a first-place time of 1:51.24 in the 200-medley relay. JULIE TIEDEMANN won the 500-free (11:07.77), with Tiedemann and MARIANNE TASSINARI tying for second in the 200-free (2:02.54).
- Shopovick notched an individual win in the 100-back (1:00.47) before Peralta set the mark by edging her opponent by .81 seconds. The sophomore made it consecutive victories, claiming first in the 100-free in 54.00.
- Tiedemann (5:28.9) and KACIE GADZINSKI (5:35.69) went 1-2 in the 500 free before Peralta capped her fine performance off with a third individual first-place time in the 100-fly. The sophomore finished in 1:00.77 as Tassinari closed the wins with a time of 2:16.38 in the 200-IM, winning by .24 seconds.
HOW IT HAPPENED (MEN)
- RYAN KAPPES started the Red Hawks with a win in the 1,000-free as he clocked in at 10:28.26. The Red Hawks tallied the first two times in the 200-free, with LUCAS MIGLIN winning in 1:50.14 and MICHAEL WOJCIECHOWICZ second in 1:50.71.
- SPENSER DUBOIS picked up a victory in the 100-breaststroke (58.66) as LUCAS GOMES gained a win in the 50-free (21.62). Gomes also notched a win in the 100-free (47.79), edging Matthew Dettlinger (50.3) and Miglin (50.8).
- Kappes (2:02.92 – 200-backstroke) and Dubois (2:12.04 – 200-breaststroke) made it two wins each before Dubois finished the individual triumphs off with a mark of 2:01.99 in the 200-IM. Montclair closed out the afternoon in style as ANTHONY FERRARO, Wojciechowicz, Miglin, and DANIEL BARTSEVICH won the 400-free relay in 3:20.12.

Montclair, N.J.- The Saint Peter’s University swimming and diving team competed against Montclair State University and Kean University at Panzer Pool on Saturday afternoon.
Meet Notes
- The men lost to Montclair State, 155-107.
- The women fell to Kean by a score of 201-42. In the head-to-head against Montclair State, Saint Peter’s women’s swimming team lost, 197-46.
- In the men’s 200-yard medley relay race, Saint Peter’s had a first-place finish with collective help from Vladimir Petras, Victor Fuentes, Tristan Raso, and Aleksa Vujosevic.
- Yanis Benadouda came in second place in the men’s 1,000-yard freestyle. Emil Gunnarsson finished right behind Benadouda as the third-place finisher in that heat.
- Ashton Smith was crowned the winner of the men’s 500-yard freestyle.
- Raso’s men’s 100-yard butterfly finals time of 52.13 seconds was good enough for a first-place finish.
- On the women’s side, Erin Dall’Agnol was the top finisher in the 200-yard freestyle heat.

MONTCLAIR, N.J. (11/11/23) – The Kean University women’s swimming team won four events as they split a tri-meet with Montclair State University (L, 148-112) and Saint Peter’s University (W, 201-42) on Saturday afternoon.
HOW IT HAPPENED!
- Sydney Stemley won two events in the 200 Fly (2:16.10) and the 400 Free Relay (3:44.41). Stemley also placed second in the 100 Fly (1:01.89) and captured the relay with Emma Bellars, Abby Burns and Kylie Tininenko.
- Teagan Powell (100 Breast/1:08.82), Ashley Konz (200 Back/2:13.63), Naomee Miller (200 Breast/2:31.25) all won their individual events.
- Bellars notched two second place finishes in the 50 (24:87) and 100 Free (55:15).
- Konz (100 Back/1:01.59), Alisa Dovbnya (100 Free/11:13.63), Miller (200 IM/2:16.62) all took second individually.
- Konz, Miller, Burns and Bellars took second in the 200 Medley Relay (1:51.71).

- “Tough loss to a very good Montclair State team. We battled hard all afternoon and came up a bit short today”, said Head Coach Chris Swenson.
