WEST LONG BRANCH, NJ – The Monmouth University men’s and women’s swimming teams each earned decisive victories over visiting Saint Peter’s on Senior Day on Saturday afternoon at Steadman Natatorium.
The men’s team won their third consecutive dual meet with a 154-86 victory over the Peacocks, while the women claimed a 159-58 win in their return to Steadman Natatorium.
Callan Smith led the Hawks with three individual victories, while Cole Dyson, Dean Beyer and Bailey Rynkiewicz each secured a pair of wins.
MEET NOTES
– Monmouth honored eight seniors prior to the meet. Alexandra Ho, Emma Lagattolla, Camryn McHugh, Muriel Maloney, Tahlia Botha, Callan Smith, Kevin Del Giorno and James Leitz.
– Callan Smith hit the wall first in the 100-yard backstroke (51.84), the 50-yard freestyle (21.83) and the 100-yard freestyle (47.45). Smith now has 16 wins on the season and 89 in his career.
– Cole Dyson took the top spots in the 200-yard freestyle (1:40.62) and 500-yard freestyle (4:49.96). Dyson’s has six wins on the year and 18 in his career.
– Dean Beyer won the 1000-yard freestyle in 9:57.03 and the 400 IM in 4:21.16. Beyer earned his seventh victory of 2022-23 and the ninth of his career.
– Kevin Del Giorno set a new personal best when he won the 100-yard butterfly in 52.97. Del Giorno’s win was his second of the year and the fifth of his career.
– Connor Currie finished first in the 200-yard butterfly (1:58.57). It was Currie’s first win of the year and the fourth of his career.
– Owen Dyson won his first individual race of the year with a time of 1:54.90 in the 200-yard backstroke.
– Leo Fricker won the 200-yard breaststroke in 2:14.88 to secure his first win of the season and the third of his career.
– The men’s 400-yard medley relay finished first with a time of 3:34.17. Owen Dyson, Sean Cook, Blake Reynolds and James Leitz earned the victory.
– Bailey Rynkiewicz won the 200-yard butterfly in 2:12.90 and the 400 IM in 4:46.72. She has four individual wins in her freshman season.
– The women’s 400-yard medley relay started the meet with a winning time of 4:05.92. Camryn McHugh, Tahlia Botha, Bailey Rynkiewicz and Edie Ancell combined for the win.
– Hannah Parker earned her second win of the season when she took first in the 1000-yard freestyle.
– Alexandra Ho won the 100-yard backstroke in 59.94. It was her third win of the year and the 30th of her career.
– Tahlia Botha won the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:08.71. It was Botha’s first win of the season and the 23rd of her career.
– Edie Ancell won her second race of the year when she finished first in the 100-yard freestyle (55.33).
– Jenna Pryne won her second race of the season with a first-place time of 2:09.98 in the 200-yard backstroke.
– Isabella Aguanno won her second race of the season with a first-place time of 2:31.78 in the 200-yard breaststroke.
– Alexa Ploskonka won the 500-yard freestyle in 5:35.72. It was Ploskonka’s first win of the season and the second of her career.
– Jensen Ritter earned her fifth win of the season and the 10th of her career with her time of 59.65 in the 100-yard butterfly.
– Monmouth won the 400 free relay as Camryn McHugh, Edie Ancell, Jensen Ritter and Alexandra Ho finished in 3.48.55.

Monmouth will close the regular season schedule when it travels to Philadelphia for a dual meet against La Salla on February 4 at 12 p.m.
