WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. – La Salle women’s swimming topped the Monmouth Hawks 174-87 in dual meet action this afternoon. The men fell 142-103 to close out the regular season.

HOW IT HAPPENED (WOMEN):
- The women started the meet strong by taking first and second place in the 200-yard medley relay. The winning team consisted of Lauren Fenn, Carlota Ungo, Tori Fenn, and Toni Rafferty and they swam the event in 1:48.20.
- In the 200-freestyle, Toni Rafferty, Raven Domingo, and Gabriela Herbreder took first, second, and third place, respectively. Rafferty won the event in 1:56.13.
- Rosalia Marin Martinez added to the La Salle win total by swimming the 100-yard backstroke in 59.19 and securing first place.
- Ungo took her second top-spot of the meet in the 100-yard breaststroke in a time of 1:07.12.
- In the 50-yard freestyle, the women for La Salle took the top three spots yet again. The event was won by Maren Schermerhorn in 24.26 and she was followed in by Emma van Selm and Lauren Fenn.
- The 100-yard freestyle was won by Tori Fenn, her second of the day. The event was won by Fenn in 53.38.
- Zyenna Martinez notched a win of her own in the 200-backstroke. She took first place in a time of 2:09.76.
- In the 200-yard breaststroke, Denise Yushan took the top spot. The freshman swam to a first-place finish in 2:26.17.
- La Salle took first and second place in the 500-free thanks to Thilda Strom and Raven Domingo. The winning time for Strom was in 5:15.80.
- Felicia Rogell won the 200-IM in a time of 2:09.51, three seconds faster than the next swimmer.
- To end the meet, La Salle capped off the day by winning the 400-yard freestyle relay. Marin Martinez, Rafferty, T. Fenn, and van Selm took the top spot in 3:33.91.
HOW IT HAPPENED (MEN):
- The men’s 200-yard relay picked up where they left off last time out, securing the top spot. This event was won by Tarik Gusic, Andrea Savoca, Felix Jedbratt, and Carter Perkins in 1:32.16.
- Savoca was not finished winning on the day. The Italian took first in the 100-yard breaststroke in a time of 58.14.
- In the 200-butterfly, Jedbratt swam to victory for his second win of the meet. He won the event in 45.45.
- Stav Gorobets added to the Explorer win total in the 200-yard breaststroke, winning in 2:13.80.
- Savoca took first place yet again in this meet. This time he won in the 100-yard butterfly in 50.51. Getting right back at it in the 200-IM, Savoca added another win in 1:57.00.
- The 400-freestyle team of Felix Jedbratt, Carter Perkins, Zack Miller, and Tarik Gusic took first in the final event of the meet for La Salle. They won the event in 3:05.59.

- The Explorers will be competing in the 2024 Atlantic 10 Conference Championships starting on Wednesday, Feb. 21 and it will run until Saturday, Feb. 24.

WEST LONG BRANCH, NJ – The Monmouth University men’s and women’s swimming teams closed out their regular season against visiting La Salle on Senior Day on Saturday afternoon at Steadman Natatorium.
The men’s team won its fourth-straight meet of the season as it earned a decisive 148-114 victory over the visiting Explorers. The women’s team came up short, losing 174-87.
Jensen Ritter, Owen Dyson, and Cole Dyson each contributed two individual victories.
MEET NOTES AND QUOTES
“We had a really strong performance on both sides and it was great to acknowledge our seniors for their contributions to the program over their careers. We knew coming into the meet that La Salle was a strong team and I was proud of the way we elevated our performance. We knew it would be tight on the men’s side and they really stepped up in a big way today. The women also put forth a great effort and we are right where we need to be with the CAA Championships less than a month away.”

– Monmouth recognized eight seniors as part of its Senior Day celebration. Katie Parker, Alexa Ploskonka, Maggie Young, Connor Currie, Cole Dyson, Dylan Edge, Blake Reynolds and Thomas Svane-From were honored prior to the meet.
– Kristen Gullickson placed first in the 1000-yard freestyle in a time of 10:52.55. This is Gullickson’s sixth win of her career.
– Freshman Ziv Cohen now has eight individual wins after taking first in the 1000-yard freestyle (9:39.16).
– Owen Dyson placed first in both backstroke events. In the 100-yard backstroke he finished in 51.01 and in the 200-yard backstroke he hit the wall at 1:53.00. These wins give Dyson his eighth win of the season and ninth of his career.
– Blake Reynolds won his 40th career race in the 50-yard freestyle with his time of 21.06. It was Reynold’s eighth win this season.
– Cole Dyson earned the top spot in both the 200-yard freestyle (1:42.23) and the 500-yard freestyle (4:41.32), giving him his 26th career win.
– Jensen Ritter won her tenth individual race of the year after placing first in both the 100 (58.31) and 200-yard butterflies (2:06.86). These wins give Jensen 20 career victories.

Monmouth will travel to the Hampton Aquaplex in Hampton, VA to compete in the CAA Championships beginning on February 28.
