Mie Nielsen Breaks Danish Record in 50 Back in Norway

Mie Nielsen has broken another Danish Record, continuing an impressive run since her return to competition under a year ago.

Her latest mark came in a meet in Norway, where she was a 28.43 in the 50 LCM backstroke, as her team took top club honors at the Skagerrak Swim 2014 meet. That time breaks her own National Record of 28.51 set at the 2012 European Junior Championships, though it still leaves the 17-year old outside of the all-time top 50 performers in the event.

This swim comes shortly after returning from a Danish training camp to South Africa, where they were able to avoid the worst of the cold and dark Northern European winter.

That swim also broke the overall Nordic Record as well.

Nielsen adds this to her list of National Records that includes the 100 back in long course, plus the 200 free, 50 back, and 100 back in short course meters. To go along with those individual swims, she’s been a part of 7 Danish National Records in relays.
