CLEVELAND, Ohio – Eastern Michigan has been selected to defend their MAC Championship title by the Mid-American Conference Men’s swimming and diving coaches. The Eagles are also the favorite throughout the regular season, receiving five first place votes.
In the 62 years swimming and diving has been recognized by the conference, Eastern Michigan has earned 32 MAC titles. Leading the Eagles this season is 3-time All-MAC first team member, senior Andrew Henry and two-time defending MAC Champion in three-meter diving, junior Alexander Chan. Joining them for the 2015-2016 season are 24 veteran swimmers and divers are 11 freshmen.
Missouri State received two first place votes placing them in second for the season. The Bears finished 20 points behind EMU at the 2015 Swimming and Diving Championships, despite setting seven MAC Championship Records during the meet. MSU has 13 returning student athletes, including four All-MAC First Team members.
Buffalo claims the third spot, with Southern Illinois and Miami rounding out the top five. Ball State and Evansville complete the men’s poll. Intersquad exhibitions will be taking place this weekend. The full schedule can be viewed here.
