Powell, Ohio-native Jack Saczawa has recently committed to swim for the Michigan State University Spartans beginning in the 2016-17 season.
“I chose Michigan State because of the great reputation of the Honors College, the opportunity to swim in a D1-Big10 program, and to experience a traditional college campus. Coach G and the coaching staff at MSU have been terrific. I know I can reach my potential in swimming while pursuing a Honors degree in Chemical/Biomedical Engineering that will allow me to follow my dream of a career in a Medical field.”
Currently a senior at Olentangy Liberty High School, Saczawa is a backstroke specialist who has achieved Winter Juniors cuts in the 100m back (59.46) and 200m back (2:09.08). He has also earned AAA or better cuts in the 50/100/200 free, 100 fly, and 200 IM. At the 2016 OHSAA Division I Swimming & Diving State Meet, Saczawa placed sixth in the 100 back (50.47), led off Olentangy Liberty’s 12th-place 200 medley relay (23.68) and anchored their11th-place 400 free relay (47.17), coming back from a .85 deficit to overtake both Toledo St Francis De Sales and Findlay at the end.
