Mia Tandingan of Pikes Peak Athletics Breaks NAG in Girls 10&Under 200 IM at Far Westerns

Ten-year-old Mia Tandingan of Pikes Peak Athletics in Colorado Springs, Colorado, has broken Ella Eastin’s 2008 record in the 200 yard IM at Far Westerns in Morgan Hill, California. It’s the third 10-and-under national age group record to go down in the last 24 hours. Claire Tuggle of Yosemite Marlins Swim Club got the 200 free NAG on Thursday night at Far Westerns, and Zoe Skirboll took down the 100 free record today at NASA Showcase.

Tandingan entered Far Westerns with a previous personal best time of 2:22.34. In prelims, she dropped 3.6 seconds for 2:18.73. Coming back to finals she took another 4.4 seconds off her time, going 2:14.30.

Tandingan becomes the first 10-and-under girl in history to break the 2:15 barrier, as the previous national age group record, set by Ella Eastin in 2008, was 2:15.00.
