The SA Aquatic and Leisure Centre in partnership with the Marion Swimming Club is excited to announce the appointment of Shelly Jarrett as Head Coach and Program Manager.
Shelly has been involved in the program since 2012, and within this time she has had considerable success in developing the Marion Swimming Club to where it is today. Shelly has ambitious plans for the program which both parties will be supporting her to achieve. As one of Australia’s leading National Age and Open Coaches, Shelly has been sought after by many.
After a busy period of change brought on post the 2016 RIO games, SAALC and Marion had to look worldwide for the newly structured role. An international field of applicants applied. Of these applicants, Shelly was deemed to be the most appropriate, possessing all of the skills needed and the strong work ethic required to lead the SAALC and Marion Swimming Club to a new future. Shelly’s philosophy for taking the club to new horizons is simple:
‘The purpose of our coaching is to give every swimmer that is a member of our Squads/Club the opportunity to improve them, either physically or mentally, through the sport of swimming.
Swimming at a competitive club should be inclusive, rewarding and fun! The more time and effort you put into swimming, the more results and reward you inevitably achieve! A great work ethic goes a long way to building confidence and success in every individual. We, as a coaching team, are 100 % committed to assisting all to achieve their very best as people and athletes via strong physical, mental and skilled based programming and support. I am so enthusiastic to be leading the Club and program into a new period that is respectful of the past, however, excited by our future and what it brings.’
SAALC and the Marion Swimming Club team look forward to working with Shelly when she commences in the role mid-August 2017 after she returns from parental leave.
