South Lake High School’s Margaret Hohne has decided to stay in the state of Florida by committing to Florida Gulf Coast University for the 2015-2016 collegiate season. Hohne made her decision to join the Eagles this past weekend, and deciding to be apart of one of the top mid-major backstroke training groups.
“I absolutely loved the team and the coaching staff!” Hohne said. “The campus is amazing, and I can’t wait to be apart of the team!”
Coached by Don Gibb at National Training Center (NTC) Aquatics in Clermont, Hohne was a finalist at the 2013 FHSAA 2A State Championships, finishing 9th in the 200 IM with a 2:08.69 and 6th in the 100 Back with a 57.58. Hohne hopes to improve on those results at her states meet on Saturday, November 15th.
Hohne will provide depth for the Eagles in the backstroke events and the 200 IM, as her best times would have had her swimming in the B Finals at this past season’s CCSA Conference Meet. With her training alongside fellow backstrokers, including 2013 NCAA All-American Kira Touissant and CCSA All-Conference Sandra Wilk, Hohne can provide the Eagles another A Finalist at the conference meet.
