BALTIMORE – The Loyola University Maryland men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams posted dominant wins over another Patriot League foe on Saturday, sweeping Colgate University at the Mangione Pool at the Fitness & Aquatic Center.
The men beat the Raiders, 225-52, and the women were 180-101 winners.
The Greyhounds exhibited their depth in the early relays, as the women’s team took the top three spots, and four of the top five, while the men were first through fifth.
Alison Prushinski, Lily Mead, Izzy Barnette and Stella Meyerhoeffer won the women’s race in 1:48.54, while Reid Hussey, David Sears, Sung Lee and Jimmy Hayburn were winners on the men’s side in 1:33.82.
Dylan Champagne led four Greyhounds in the top five of the men’s 1,000-yard freestyle, winning by over seven seconds in 9:57.12. Greg Sifferman (3rd, 10:13.94), Joey Cholish (4th, 11:30.47) and Jack Inman (5th, 11:38.30) rounded out the top five of the race.
Avery Stimmel led Loyola in the women’s 1,000 freestyle, finishing third in 11:20.01, and Charley Tulio was fifth in 11:36.45.
Patrick Hayburn touched the wall first in the men’s 200-yard freestyle (1:44.62), while Jonah Goodman was third (1:47.54) and Charles Fagbohun took fifth (1:48.12).
Haley Cisewski finished second in the women’s 200 freestyle in 1:58.73 as Elena Mugno (4th, 2:03.87) and Emily Colyar (5th, 2:03.90) were also in the top five fo the Greyhounds.
Laura Latham scored a victory for the women in the 100-yard backstroke, finishing in 1:00.38 with Gianna Moscetti close behind in third at 1:01.64. Fay Moser tied for fourth just 16-hundredths of a second back of Moscetti.
Reid Hussey (53.78), Tie Manuel (54.48) and Josh Walker (54.58) finished first through third in the 100-yard backstroke for the men, completing the race within eight-tenths of a second of each other. Jared Copeland finished fifth in 56.27.
Stimmel won the women’s 100-yard breaststroke (1:08.59), edging teammate Elizabeth Walsh who was second in 1:08.67. Abby Andrews took third in 1:10.32, and Sara Jackson finished fifth in 1:12.30.
Cal Bartone (59.59), David Sears (59.72) and Brett Legambi finies one-two-three in the men’s 100 breaststroke, and Cholish finished fifth in 1:02.41.
Molly Davis took second in the women’s 200-yard butterfly in 2:13.61, while Kaitlin Witkop was third in 2:16.13. Carolina Suarez finished fourth (2:17.50), and Allison Wade was fifth in 2:18.99.
Lee was a winner in the men’s 200-yard butterfly, winning in 1:55.33, and Matt Voight finished fourth in 1:59.07. Patrick Boyle rounded out the top five in 2:04.24.
Mead won the women’s 50-yard freestyle with a time of 24.17, and Tulio finished second in 25.13. Meyerhoeffer finished fourth in 25.40, and Barnette was a spot back in 25.52.
The men had the top 10 times in the 50-yard freestyle as Caleb Kelly finished first (21.23), while Conor Rutigliano and Henry Mueller were tied for second (21.31). Alex Plavoukos touched the wall in fourth (21.56), and Jimmy Hayburn was fifth (21.64).
Mya Sharkey was the winner of the women’s 3-meter diving with 224.32 points with teammates Anna Donato (204.74), Jess Stolfi (203.77) and Lily Bistline (166.80) were the next three finishers.
Jack Still took the top spot in the 1-meter diving in 264.82, while Dan Faunce finished second in 207.37. Jeremy Unanue finished third in 187.95, and Tyler Zarzycki placed fifth in 147.90.
Claire Bowser won the 100-yard freestyle in 54.30, slipping past Walsh who was second in 54.91. Moser had another tie for fourth in 55.63.
Jonathan Brooks led six Greyhounds who took the top positions in the 100-yard freestyle for the men, winning with a time of 47.54, whie Plavoukos was second in 47.82. Alexander Grahor took third in 48.75, while John Nguyen was fourth in 48.78, Michael Gozdan fifth in 48.80 and Manuel sixth in 49.03.
Moscetti finished second in the 200-yard backstroke for the women in 2:13.40, while Lia Bottone was third in 2:16.07 and Katherine Lew fifth in 2:19.59.
Hussey was a winner in the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 1:58.47 for the men, while Josh Walker took third (2:00.32) and Tommy Noone fifth (2:02.36).
Mead posted her second win of the day for the women in the 200-yard breaststroke by more than 15 seconds with a time of 2:23.16. Maggie McCann took second in 2:38.40, Mungo was fourth (2:44.71) and Anna Curran finished fifth (2:44.94).
Sifferman and Bartone finished one-two in the men’s 200-yard breaststroke with times of 2:15.54 and 2:16.14, respectively as Michael McMahon finished fourth (2:21.90) and Matt Voight was fifth (2:24.45).
Meyerhoeffer was the women’s team’s top finisher in the 500-yard freestyle in 5:29.23, while Jennifer DeGroat was fourth in 5:35.48, and Emily Colyar was fifth in 5:35.54.
Mueller finished first in the men’s 500-yard freestyle in 4:41.17 ahead of Max Verheyen was second in 4:48.20. Tyler Stewart took third in 4:52.19.
Latham recorded her second win of the day with top honors in the 100-yard butterfly, beating her Colgate counterpart 59.34 to 59.71, and Alana Andress was third in 1:00.57.
Harry Hearn won the 100-yard butterfly in 51.12, leading Loyola in the top six spots. Champagne was econd (52.63), Ryan Atwood third (52.92), Fagbohun fourth (54.01) and Zellner fifth (54.68) and Reid sixth (55.07).
Donato scored 225.74 points to win the women’s 1-meter diving with Sharkey coming in second in 220.35. Stolfi was third in 201.97, and Bistline finished fourth with 197.99. Still tallied 268.58 points for the men to win the 3-meter diving. Faunce was second with 221.61, Unanue third (186.23) and Zarzycki fourth (173.92).
Barnette tallied a win in the 200-yard individual medley for the women, swimming 2:14.27, as Lauren Joyce (2:18.05) and Kaitlin Witkop (2:19.88) were fourth and fifth.
Patrick Hayburn had a second victory on Saturday in the men’s 200-yard individual medley with a time of 1:56.58. Rutigliano was second (1:57.73), Hearn third (1:57.93), Matthew Gray fourth (2:00.05) and Jared Copeland fifth (2:05.43).
The teams swam a mixed 200-yard freestyle relay with Loyola taking the top three spots. Tulio, Kelly, Remmi Shaw and Jimmy Hayburn were the winning team in 1:31.07.
Loyola will return to the pool after Thanksgiving for its final competition of 2021 when it hosts the H2ounds Invitational, Friday and Saturday, December 3 and 4.

BALTIMORE, MD.— The Colgate swimming and diving team had a strong showing of racing and diving when they faced off against Loyola on Saturday afternoon.
Women
Emma Senglaub had a stellar meet taking first in the 200 yard butterfly (2:10.39) and second in the 100 yard butterfly with a season-best time (59.72).
Freshman Nora Bergstrom won the 500 yard Freestyle (5:11.38), followed by teammate Maggie DeLillo who took third (5:31.53).
Additionally, Danielle McNerney took first in the 200 yard backstroke (2:12.74) and Dana Witte also had a top finish in the 200 yard freestyle (1:58.59), while captain Katie Hand took third in the event with a 2:01.44.
Zoe Stokes won the 1,000-yard freestyle (10:54.79) followed shortly after by her teammate, Katie Senglaub who took second at 11:03.76.
Men
Peyton Wray took second in the 1,000 yard freestyle with a season-best time of 10:04.34.
Justin Song (1:57.92) and Ryan Blumenfeld (1:58.25) took second and third in the 200 yard butterfly, while Emmet Santry took second in the 200 yard backstroke (2:00.16).
Leading Colgate’s divers was Lucas Austin who scored 160.80 on 1 meter while competing two new dives.
