Ari-Pekka Liukkonen won the men’s 50 freestyle at the Finnish Short Course Championships this evening in a time of 21.45. Liukkonen’s time is only 22 one-hundredths of a second off of his lifetime best which is the Finnish national record in the event. His time is currently the fourth fastest time in the world this year.
Jenna Laukkanen was off of here season’s best time of 30.05, which is the Finnish national record, winning the event at the national championships in a time of 30.23. Veera Kivirinta finished second put up a time of 30.83 which ranks in the world’s top 10.
Fanny Teijonsalo took her third event of the competition winning the women’s 200 freestyle in a time of 1:58.99.
Kalle Pyykkonen won the men’s 200 butterfly in a time of 2:01.26 almost three seconds ahead of the field.
Jaakko Rautalin took the men’s 100 backstroke in a time of 53.88 while Vilma Ruotsalainen won the women’s 220 backstroke in a time of 2:11.74.
Eetu Piiroinen, who won the men’s 800 freestyle earlier in the competition, collected the gold in the men’s 1500 freestyle posting a time of 15:42.23.
