Lillie Boggs, A Tennessee High School Medalist, Commits to Kentucky for 2023

Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.

The Baylor School’s Lillie Boggs has announced her college decision, electing to head to the University of Kentucky in 2023. A recent Tennessee transplant from Colorado, Boggs has the distinction of having been an A-finalist at Colorado Senior Championship meets as well as a multiple-time Tennessee High School State Championship finalist.

I am extremely happy to announce my commitment to the University of Kentucky to further my academic and athletic career! I want to thank my family, coaches, teammates, and friends for supporting me throughout my journey. Also, thank you to all of the UK coaches and team for giving me this amazing opportunity. So excited for what’s to come! GO CATS!💙😼

Boggs has competed at two TISCA (Tennessee High School) State Championships, finishing in the top-8 of both events in both her freshman and sophomore years. As a freshman, she finished with a bronze medal in both the 500 free (4:56.41) and 200 IM (2:04.17).  As a sophomore, she claimed the state title in the 500 free, finishing slightly slower than the previous year in a time of 4:56.88. She also added a 5th place finish in the 200 IM, touching in 2:04.40.

The most recent meet that Boggs competed at was the Winter Junior Championships-East in early December. Her best performance at that meet came in the 1650, where she finished with the 24th fastest time of the meet. Her time of 17:17.24 was her fastest time since she won the event at the 2021 Southeastern Senior Championships in a time of 16:49.90.

Top SCY Times

  • 100 free – 53.41
  • 200 free – 1:53.27
  • 500 free – 4:56.10
  • 1650 free – 16:49.90
  • 200 IM – 2:04.17
  • 400 IM – 4:20.55

Boggs will bring depth to the Wildcats in multiple events with her focus likely being the 1650 freestyle and 400 IM. Kentucky is relatively deep in the 1650 this season, with junior Beth McNeese leading the team. While McNeese will have likely graduated prior to Boggs getting to campus, sophomores Kaylee Williams and Megan Drumm will both be seniors when she arrives on campus in 2023.

Meanwhile, in the 400 IM, her training partners will likely be entirely different than the team’s current top performers. All three of Kentucky’s fastest performers in the event this season, Gillian Davey, Bailey Bonnett, and Lauren Poole, are set to graduate prior to Boggs joining the team.

The Kentucky women had a historic season last year, winning the program’s first Southeastern Conference Championships and setting the conference records for most points scored at the meet. Of last season’s conference team, the Wildcats return 18 out of the 20 point scorers from the conference championship and all four members of the gold medal-winning 800 free relay.

Kentucky has already received commitments for the class of 2027 from Elizabeth Tilt, Cassie Howell, Madi McGlothen, and Paige Housman.
