Lauryn Johnson Announces Verbal Commitment to UCLA for 2019-20

Lauryn Johnson, a junior at Sacred Heart Academy in Hempstead, New York, has verbally committed to UCLA’s class of 2023. She will join the already-committed Lindsay Stenstrom in Westwood in the fall of 2019. Johnson swims year-round with Long Island Aquatic Club.

Johnson is a NISCA All-American and USA Swimming Scholastic All-American who specializes in free and fly. She was runner-up in the 500 free (4:57.01) and placed third in the 100 fly (55.22) in the 2017 NYS Federation Girls Swimming Championships. Her best times in those events come from 2017 Winter National Champions (4:50.84, 19th in prelims) and 2017 NCAP Invitational (54.97, 9th place). She also went best times in the 200 free and 1000 free at NCAP Invite.

This spring Johnson has improved her PBs in the 50/100/1650 free, 100 back, and 200 fly in SCY, and in the 800 LCM free. At 2018 NCSA Spring Championship she finaled in the 200 free (28th), 500 free (12th), 1650 free (14th), and 200 fly (21st).
