Versatile Javier Quinones Sends Verbal Commitment to South Dakota Coyotes

Javier Quinones of Papillion-La Vista High School and Greater Omaha Aquatics (GOAL) in Omaha, Nebraska has committed to the University of South Dakota for 2018-19. Also committed to the Coyotes’ class of 2022 is Charlie Bean.

“It was a very hard choice, but I chose USD because of their excellent coaching staff, excellent facilities, and the wonderful opportunity to pursue my degree choice.  USD also gives me the amazing opportunity to further my swimming at the D1 level.  I’m thankful to everyone that helped me get here.  I’m extremely thankful to my family for always helping me pursue my dream.”

Quinones wrapped up his high school career in February with a pair of third-place finishes in the 50 free (21.38) and 100 free (47.53) at the 2018 NSAA High School State Championships. He also anchored the runner-up 200 medley relay (20.80) and led off the 5th-place 400 free relay (48.52), helping head coach Nick Baker’s Monarchs achieve a sixth-place team finish.

At Columbia Sectionals he finaled in the 50 free (23rd), 100 free (20th), and 100 breast (28th), and improved his times in the 50/100 free, 50/100 breast, and 50 fly.
