LaMastra Breaks 39-Year-Old Record As Dartmouth Sweeps Tate Ramsden Invite

HANOVER, N.H. – The Dartmouth men’s swimming and diving team defeated UMass by a score of 187.5-142.5 to win the Tate Ramsden Invitational on Saturday.

Connor LaMastra was back at it again, breaking meet and pool records in the 200 free (1:38.09) and 1650 free (15:20.72). The latter was the longest standing individual record left, one that had been on the board since Dartmouth hosted the Ivy League Championship in 1981.

In the 400 IM, Maxwell Jones was second (4:17.91), picking up four points. Matt Luciano was first in the 100 fly (50.16), out-touching the Dutchman in second place by over a second and half. Landon Armstrong tied for fourth (52.56).

In the 200 free, Ethan Banks was second (1:44.01) and John Hall was fourth (1:44.59). The Big Green earned nine points in the 100 breast, being led by Parker Hershberger in second (57.64). Connor Richmond was third (58.51) and Jones came in fourth (59.18).

Noah Hensley won the 100 back with a time of 51.75. To end the second session, Dartmouth was second in the 200 medley relay (1:33.95). The Green’s C and B relays tied for third with a time of 1:35.95.

Dartmouth went 1-4 on 1-meter. Justin Sodokoff won (321.97) and was followed by Ray Neistat (285.38), Kyle Schubert (279.67) and Jonathan Hu (278.84). On 3-meter, Sodokoff was victorious again (331.58), while Neistat (316.80), Hu (249.23) and Schubert (241.73) took second through fourth. In the 200 fly, Luciano (1:57.63) and Ethan Moon (2:00.34) ended up scoring position.

The only Dartmouth swimmer to compete in the 200 back, Tim Cushman placed second (1:53.53). In the 100 free, Joe Moll was first (45.63), and Armstrong (47.16), Connor Bishop (47.99) and Tang-e Tan (48.02) touched soon after. Richmond finished highest for the Green in the 200 breast, taking second (2:07.03). Herschberger (2:07.96), Jones (2:08.48) and Brandon Liao (2:09.66) touched in a row soon after.

To end the weekend, Dartmouth’s 400 free relay was first (3:04.64), breaking the meet record by three one-hundredths of a second.

Next Saturday, the Big Green will travel to New York to swim one last Ivy meet against Columbia.

HANOVER, N.H. – Dartmouth women’s swimming and diving won the Tate Ramsden Invitational on Saturday evening, defeating UMass, 189-136, at Karl Michael Pool.

The second day of the meet was highlighted by Christina Cianciolo breaking the pool record in the 1650 free (17:03.00) by over four seconds.

Alie Hunter was first in the 400 IM (4:35.45), out-touching a Dutchwoman by four-tenths of a second. Leah Johnson also ended up in scoring position (4:42.09). The Big Green took the top three spots in the 100 fly, being led by Ashley Post (57.34). Eleanor Zwart was second (57.85) and Katherine Cane took third (58.71).

First through fifth in the 200 free went to Dartmouth; Mia Leko was first (1:53.20) and she was followed by Sophie Smith (1:55.43), Bridget Parker (1:55.69), Summer Martin (1:56.62) and Cianciolo (1:56.96). In the 100 breast, Kenna Van Steyn won in 1:06.86, while Maggie Deppe-Walker took third (1:09.01).

The Green had another good showing in the 100 back: Zwart touched in first place (58.23), while Susannah Laster (59.04), Connie Zhang (59.97) and Kaia Reznicek (1:00.18) took second through fourth. To end the second session, Dartmouth placed first and second in the 200 medley relay with times of 1:48.73 and 1:49.30.

On the 3-meter diving board, Maggie Pionzio was second (263.10) and Isabella Lichen took fourth (235.20), earning a combined six points. On 1-meter, Pionzio finished in second place again (243.59), while Lichen moved up to finish in third (221.09).

In the 200 back, Zhang touched second (2:08.53), while Sarah Finlay also had a few points by taking fourth (2:09.19). Dartmouth placed first through fifth in the 50 free: Smith was first (52.24) and was followed by Post (52.34), Martin (53.28), Zwart (53.29) and Reznicek (53.33). Van Steyn and Deppe-Walker were second and third in the 200 breast (2:26.44, 2:30.13).

Leko was first in the 200 fly (2:06.10), while Hunter squeaked into third (2:10.11), beating a UMass swimmer to the wall by five-tenths. To end the weekend, Dartmouth’s B relay won the 400 free relay (3:33.20), while A touched half a second later (3:33.72).

Next Saturday, the Big Green will travel to New York to swim one last Ivy meet against Columbia.

HANOVER, N.H.  The University of Massachusetts men’s swimming and diving team wrapped up competition at the Tate Ramsden Invitational on Saturday night by picking up five wins on the final day, including a win in the 200 Medley Relay.

Michael Tartakovsky led the way for five Minutemen in the top-six of the 100 Back on his way to finishing second with a time of 52.34 with Will Munstermann touching the wall right behind in third. Tartakovsky and Munstermann combined with Madden and Ryan Pedrick to post the top time of 1:33.59 in the 200 Medley Relay. Munstermann led the Minutemen earlier in the day in the 100 Fly to take second while Ethan Davey and Ransford came in third and fourth.

Chase Kent opened up the day in the morning session by taking the 400 IM top spot with a swim of 4:11.45. A pair of freshmen in Noah Witt and Jamie MacDonald recorded wins of their own as Witt led a pair of top-three finishers in the 200 Back with a time of 1:53.05 with Seamus Trzewik-Quinn taking third. MacDonald, meanwhile, led a sweep of the top-three spots in the 200 Fly with a swim of 1:55.04 while Casey Ransford and Panagiotis Androulidakis finished in second and third, respectively.

Al Madden added a win in the 100 Breaststroke with a time of 57.57 while Luther Gordon finished in fifth to place two Minutemen in the top-five finishers.

Tyler Pidde finished third in the 1650 Free with a time of 16:24.67 with Emerson Kiefer in fourth. Jacques Boffa led all UMass swimmers in the 200 Free with a swim of 1:44.47 while Androulidakis rounded out the top-five.

The Minutemen will wrap up the regular season on Saturday as they play host to Fordham at 1 p.m. for Senior Day in the Joseph R. Rogers, Jr. Pool.

HANOVER, N.H.  Olga Egkorova won the 200 Back and picked up a pair of runner-up finishes as the Minutewomen wrapped up competition at the Tate Ramsden Invitational at Dartmouth on Saturday evening. Olivia Mozoki and Maja Boric each added individual wins for the Minutewomen, who conclude the regular season on Saturday at home against Fordham at 1 p.m. for Senior Day.

Egkorova’s time of 2:06.87 in the 200 Back led the way for three Minutewomen in the top-five as Jane Denenberg and Sydnee Aubin finished in third and fifth, respectively. Egkorova opened up the morning session by finishing second in the 400 IM with a swim of 4:35.88 while Kelly Malyszka finished in third with Denenberg in fourth. In the 200 Fly, Egkorova added her final second-place finish of the day while Summer Pierce took third.

Maja Boric continued her stellar start to her senior campaign with another pair of wins on the boards, leading the way in the 1-Meter Dive with a score of 268.72 to go along with a winning-score of 308.77 in the 3-Meter. Emma Petrovich rounded out the top-three finishers in the 3-Meter with a score of 236.47.

Olivia Mozoki clocked in the top-time to win the 200 Breaststroke with a swim of 2:26.05. Chelsea Meiring added a runner-up finish with a time of 1:07.22 in the 100 Breaststroke while Bella Snyder led the UMass distance swimmers in the 1650 Free to take second with Malyszka in third.
