Kenyon Freshman Crile Hart Nominated for D3 Honda Sports Award

Kenyon College freshman Crile Hart was named the Collegiate Women Sports Awards (CWSA) Division III Honda Sports Award for swimming & diving, the organization announced earlier this week.

“I would like to thank all my teammates, coaches, and specifically my family for giving me the opportunity to attend Kenyon and to continue my love of swimming. I am very humbled by this nomination and I am proud of all the other nominees for their hard work in and out the classroom this year.” Hart said. “Being a part of the Kenyon swimming and diving team has given me the pleasure of training and racing with some of the best teammates I’ve ever had. I always wear the Kenyon cap with pride.”

Hart was chosen after winning 4 national titles, including 3 individually:

  • 200 IM – 1:58.86 (1:58.29 prelims was a new NCAA D3 Record in her first NCAA Championship swim)
  • 100 back – 53.61
  • 200 back – 1:55.67 (NCAA D3 Record)

She also swam the fly leg on Kenyon’s title-winning 400 medley relay, splitting 52.94 (the fastest time in the field), and was on Kenyon’s runner-up 400 and 800 free relays.

This award anoints one finalist from 11 NCAA Division III sports forward to a national vote, where a winner is selected. The sports included are basketball, cross country, field hockey, golf, lacrosse, soccer, softball, swimming & diving, tennis, track & field, and volleyball. 4 swimmers have won the award since its inauguration in 1988: MIT’s Yvonne Grierson in 1990, Kenyon’s Jennifer Carter in 1993, Kenyon’s Carla Ainsworth in 1994, and Amherst’s Kendra Stern in 2011.
