Katinka Hosszu Enters All 16 Events at Euro Meet 2014 in Luxembourg

Another weekend, and another endless schedule in an endless run of racing for Hungarianย Katinka Hosszu. At this weekend’s Euro Meet 2014 in Luxembourg, she’s entered in all 16 events on the meet that uses a full World Championship schedule, aside from the non-Olympic distance events.

This means that if she were to final in all races, with two events being timed finals, she’d swim 30 races over 6 sessions.

Hosszu is one of a handful of elites who will be at this meet. Both Germany and France will send big groups to this meet, as will Israel. Other Hungarians who will be in attendance includeย Laszlo Cseh, who will show down with Serbianย Velimir Stjepanovic in the 200 fly.

Paul Biedermann will swim at this meet, which is just his 4th that we can find record of since skipping the 2013 World Aquatics Championships (and his first outside of minor German meets).

There will be a big British squad there too, as multiple clubs are making the trip to the main continent for the event. That includes the City of Peterborough Swim Club.

Full start lists can be found here.

Some of it is having the attitude to do it and not feeling sorry for yourself like many do. All this taper and only able to swim fast on a limited basis sometimes is wearing to hear. More power to you Katinka go to it.

Oh I think it’s great what she’s doing, I wish more swimmers would try it. I like to see people who aren’t afraid to push their limits.

Superwoman is real! Biedermann should swim without a cap.

Perhaps she wants to swim more than 1000 races in one year ! ๐Ÿ™‚

The more she keeps doing this, the more I wonder what her secret is. What does she do that almost all other top swimmers don’t that means she can cope with this volume of events? There are other swimmers who swim large programmes but no one comes even close to Hosszu’s workload. Just how does she do it?

4.37 in a 400 IM is a fast training.

Money. Is there prize money involved at this meet? If so, you can be sure she’s going to swim every event she can. She learned how to make swimming lucrative through the World Cup circuit and now pretty much shows up for any meet that involves money, even ones as remote as the Reunion Islands meet.

BTW – Danishswimfan, I found an online link to watch Borgen this week, and I am totally hooked! You Danes know how to make compelling TV!

Mmm Brigitte Nyborg… ๐Ÿ™‚ I hope you are watching it in Danish with subtitles. You should also try Broen or Forbrydelsen or maybe Rejseholdet. When Mrs DSF first came to live in Denmark her entire Danish vocabulary was mostly based on Danish TV shows like Borgen that she had watched in England. She couldn’t buy cheese in the supermarket but she knew the Danish for ‘There will have to be a cabinet reshuffle’ or ‘Arrange a press conference with the Defence Minister’. ๐Ÿ™‚

But back to swimming, I’m sure money is part of Katinka’s motivation but not necessarily all, but given that other swimmers have seen how much she is earning and considering in general it’s not a lucrative… Read more ยป

Off topic but I don’t remember seeing articles about day 2 and day 3 of the Nice International Meet last weekend.

Little recap of the entire meet.

Hosszu has done what she usually did.
A lot of races.
And 9 wins at the end.
2 of her wins were pretty impressive. She won the 50 free in 25.19. Not a bad time for a 400 IM world champion. And she won the 400 IM in 4.37.

Meilutyte has swum quietly on breaststroke. 1.07.37 in the 100 breast and 30.88 in the 50 breast.

Jรฉrรฉmy Stravius trains very seriously on butterfly for several months and we can see the results. His 1.58 in the 200 fly are a… Read more ยป

Little correction unfortunately. ๐Ÿ™
25.38 by Clara Brisfer was an error.
It has been changed into 27.02.
